HMMMM....not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing! I want to go and hide all of my stuff! She did try scrapping last summer but used this barbie book someone gave her.
So now she has a top loading pioneer lepord skin design (fake fur kind UGH! Definately not my taste!)

My DD starting scrapbooking this summer - The local scrapbook store is having a kids scrapbooking class once a week. So I also got her a scrapbook to put her layouts in - I also bought Kaitlin her very own craft supply holder (cropper hopper) - That way she knows to only use HER stuff - Mommy's stuff is OFF LIMITS! (yeah right, we'll see how long that lasts!)

I think we are both creating scrapbook monsters!

DD (turning 9 tomorrow!) and I started working TOGETHER on a scrapbook of her Girl Scout Build A Bear event last summer.... I try very hard to keep my hands off and let her do her thing.... but I do try to guide and suggest. Anyhow, she made me a nice scrapbook page all on her own for my birthday this year, using some pictures from our disney trip that she printed on her own from the computer. She did a great job.... it is 12 x 12 and I am going to frame it for my room. And she wrote...."Endless memorys" (sic) on it.... how cute!! My Mom is getting her a scrapbook kit (children's one) for her birthday.... it sounds great. If it is good I will share the info about it next week..........P

I have two monsters of my own. Both of my dd's (11 and 10 in a month) love to scrap. It started out that they got my leftovers and things I didn't really want any more. That changed real quick.

The kids classes are really fun. My LSS does a kids class once a month and also does a kids crop once a month. I usually let mine go the the crop because it costs $10, but they apply the money to the kids account and they get to spend it. If they don't spend it that night, it just stays on their account for later.

Spinning - its good that you went ahead and got her a good album. My kids did so much on junk paper in school binders and anything else they could find to use. I didn't think they would really get into it as much as they have. Now we have to try to salvage some of the old layouts they did and transfer them to their albums. They use Pioneer too, but thankfully neither one of them wanted the fuzzy one!

The hardest part for me is sitting back and not giving advice unless asked. IT'S SO HARD!!! But I want the kids to keep doing it and have it be "their" book. I always give them the doubles from my pics so at least I get to do the same photos in another album the way I like. LOL!

Sondra if she loves it half as much as you , watch out your budget just doubled for scrap supplies.:teeth:

At the last kids class we were at - One of the girls said that for her last birthday party, she had a scrap party! They hired one of the girls from the LSS for the party - Sounds like a great idea for Kaitlin's next party!

Spinning, how wonderful! You now have a hobby you & Rachel can enjoy together :)!

I stopped by a friend's home today. The two daughters took a children's computer class a few months ago at the local community college. The class included scrapbooking activities. Their little brother did a little sb as a Tiger Cub activity. I'm trying to encourage them to contiune these projects. One of the daughters recently helped me scrap my photos of her first birthday. She had some really cute ideas for the page.

My DD13 has been scrapping since she was 7 1/2. Grandma bought her a 6 x 6 book and stuff for Christmas that year. Her early stuff looks like it came from a child but it is really cute. She now does two page layouts and uses lots of color and matting. It has been a great Mother/daughter hobby.

Here is a secret on how to keep your DD out of the "good"stuff. I have my paper and stuff in clear plastic envelopes I bought at my LSS. I bought extra and labeled "DO Not Use" on the stuff that I do not want to share. She knows she can use any other things that are in the other envelopes. This has worked for a couples months now and so far so good. DD also has several friends who scrap and they use my things too, and know the rules.

Budgeting for two scrappers - easy for me. DD babysits and makes good money. In fact, she makes more than me right now (I'm a substitute teacher) so she pays for her own things. We both have quite a paper collection right now and tons of things for embellishments so we have our own motto right now.

"Use what we have" So, since we scrapped today for 4 hours all we bought were adhesive and 2 pieces of paper, plus snacks. We spent under $10 and 1/2 of it was for DD's adhesive.

My DD (almost 8) is also nagging. I would love to get her started. Are you familiar with LTD Commodities? They have GREAT starter kits for kids! I will be ordering some later today for DD. Kits start at $4.95 for 150 pieces - some Disney! They also have punch sets, scissor sets, a-z stamps, photo albums, and several non-scrapbooking Disney items. All reasonably priced.

Problem with this company is account must be opened thru a business (doesn't matter what kind of business - I use my husbands) You don't really have to order in lots of three, but shipping can be high if you don't. If you can't open account maybe someone you know can help.

My DD is 3 1/2 and all she talks about is when is she going to be old enough to scrapbook!!!! I caught her pretening to make sizzix dies the other day with play- doh! How am I going to hold her off till she is 9!

Is anyone familiar with Close To My Heart? In their newest expressions catalog, they have introduced a new line just for kids. It is a kit that has everything in it to do a scrapbook. I'm sorry, I don't remember the price, but I thought it was very reasonable. It is sized for a 9x9 scrapbook (which they also sell), and it has preprinted layout pages, punch out stickers, pages that has places for journaling (ex. MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT SCHOOL _______________ child just fills in the answer).
I really am excited to get these for my son.
