Dd 21 yr and friend wants to use UBER to go from dw to universal..safety?

Hi like I said in my heading of my post 2~21 yr olds at dw staying on disney property wanting to head over to universal for the day the girls told me about UBER however, not to keen on it....

1. How safe is using uber?

2. Are they reliable?

3. Aprox how much would it cost round trip compared to mears?

1. About as safe as a cab would be. I'm a 28 year old female and have used it multiple times both alone and in groups. One nice perk of the app is you can read the ratings other users have left for your particular driver, before they pick you up. They can cancel the request if the driver has negative reviews.

2. Yes, very. You actually see the car through GPS on the app and can folloow them as they approach you at your destination.

3. She'd have to do a fare quote on the app, and it would depend if surge pricing is in effect. Surge pricing is when there's not enough cars in one area to meet a large demand, so the pricing goes up. So this would be at a busy time of day. They can view the fare quote however before they request the car. Typically its cheaper than a cab, and nicer since the price includes tip and you don't need to worry if the cab takes cards or having exact cash.

Just be aware I believe Uber is still illegal in Orlando. I don't know if she cares about that but it is something to be aware of.

I use Uber all the time in NYC and have never felt unsafe. I actually prefer Uber yo a standard taxi because the drivers are always friendly and many go above and beyond to make the experience nicer than a standard taxi.

The fairs aren't metered so she should be able to know the cost before she looks for a driver.

I used uber this past week to go from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Universal and to other resorts around Disney and it was great. I also use uber all the time since I live in NYC.

I find uber to be pretty safe because you get to see the drivers picture and can read his rating/review. I also had no issues getting a Uber driver to pick me up at all times of the day.

The biggest thing was the trip cost around ~$25(with 20% tip)from AKL to Universal which would usually cost something around ~+$40 through a mears cab. It was about ~$10 to go from AKL to another resort on average as well.
