Hi! My name is Shelly and I’ll be doing the Disney College Program this Spring! I plan to share my adventures in a bunch of ways (all of which can be found from this page), but since the dis has been a part of my life for so long now, I wanted to share my Disney food experiences here with you guys on the Dining Board!

Disney is an eating vacation, so I figure the College Program will be a bit of an eating program as well :). Before I even got here, I had already made a long list of ADRs. Combine that with last minute dining decisions and the tons of QS I’m sure I’ll be eating, I’m hoping to share a lot of reviews here before I head back home to Kansas in May.

As a preview, here’s a list of places I already have reservations.

January:
Dinner at Raglan Road

February:
Dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe
Dinner at Chef Mickey’s
Dinner at Sanaa
Dinner at Boma
Dinner at ‘Ohana

March:
Dinner at Be Our Guest
Dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table
Diner at Teppan Edo

April:
Breakfast at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

I hope you’ll join in the fun and follow along!

And just a PS - All opinions shared here are strictly my own, and not connected to the WDW company in any way.

Congrats on getting picked for, and starting the College Program. And thanx for sharing your "eating experiences" with all of us - can't wait to read about them! Just make sure you get your proper rest, and don't feel like to "have" to eat somewhere after a long, tiring day just because you told us you would, when you'd rather (and it would be better for you) to rest. Boy - did I feel OLD saying that!!! Do you know what your location and role will be yet? Is it what/where you asked for, if so?

Pop Century Food Court

I had left my house in Kansas before the sun was up on Sunday, and checked in at Pop Century around 2pm on Friday. I was pretty hungry so after I carried stuff to my room and enjoyed being out of my car for a bit, I headed to the food court.

I stayed at Pop once before (last October). We only ate there once, and I had shared some nachos. I thought they were mostly gross so I wasn’t looking forward to eating here again, but I thought I was too tired and too hungry to walk over to Art of Animation’s food court (I learned the next day it was way closer than I thought). I looked around and decided on a Build Your Own Chicken Burger. I got mine with shredded lettuce, tomato and onions and took it outside to eat. It was a gorgeous day!

That’s kind of a photo fail, since it’s missing the main attraction, I know. I blame it on road weariness and excitement at finally being here!

The sandwich was way better than I expected. The chicken breast was giant and thin. It was perfectly crispy and the chicken wasn’t too dried out. The bun was delicious and nicely toasted. The fries were not so great, and like all Disney fountain soda, the Diet Coke was not good at all. But overall I’d say it was a win for a food court quick service. I’d definitely order it again.

Pop Century Food Court

Later that night I took a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then took the boat over to my favorite resort, the Grand Floridian. I sat in the lobby for a while and wrote a post about my trip here, and then went out to the dock to watch Wishes! After that I was planning to get a Mickey Premium bar as a nutritious dinner. But by the time Wishes was over I was so tired I decided to just go back to Pop and get one there.

But tragedy! They were sold out at the foodcourt and I had to settle on a ice cream sandwich. I had never had one before, and knew a lot of people liked them so I didn’t mind trying one.

Definite dinner fail. I didn’t really like it at all. I’m not sure how it’s any different than a store brand ice cream bar from home, except it’s shaped like Mickey’s head. It wasn’t bad, but it certainly wasn’t anything special. I’ll be skipping these in the future.

Wolfgang Puck Express

Chicken Aioli - Provolone, Tomatoes, Red Onions, Cilantro Aioli - Served with House-Made Chips (substitute Fries, Sweet Potato Fries or Butter Lettuce Salad for $1.50 more) $12.00
(from the allears menu)

I had been planning to eat at Earl of Sandwich for this meal. I always want to try it when we’re here and my family always out votes me for Wolfgang Puck. The line looked a little line, but I didn’t really care. I wasn’t in a hurry since I live here now.

And then I got inside and discovered the line doubled back a couple times. Combined with the fact that nothing on the menu really spoke to me and remembering my future roommate wanted to try this place someday, too, I bailed on the line and headed to Wolfgang Puck Express. And man was I glad I did.

The line was much shorter, and oh that sandwich was delicious! The bread was the best. Light and fluffy with crisply toasted edges. A nice layer of grilled chicken with the aioli and some veggies. The butter lettuce salad was good and I definitely needed some fresh veg light that, but the leaves were all in one giant piece and it was served on the same plate as the sammy, so although it looked great it was kinda hard to eat. I waited until the sandwich was done and then cut and tossed it on the plate. The dressing was kinda oily. Tons of tomatoes on top. Was the dressing just some bruschetta? Also cabbage and pickled cucumbers.

Even though it’s a quick service restaurant, you get your food brought to you on real plates and servers who come to make sure everything is ok. My server that day was Ashley and she was fantastic. She even offered me a to go cup for my soda when I left.

I have never been disappointed by this restaurant and am sure I’ll be going back many times.

Downtown Disney Food Court

I finally found my first Mickey Bar at a food court right outside of the Pin Trader store. I got to trade at the pin board for the first time and I was feeling pretty happy when I saw the cart, so I was having a great time.

If you’ve had one of these, you know how great they are. If you haven’t, hurry and try one. The chocolate is so thick and delicious. The ice cream is rich and perfect. They are a necessary treat of any Disney trip.

“I’m going to ask for something that might be a little weird.”
For dinner this night I was back at the Pop food court. I had thought about getting the Chicken Burger again but decided to try something different. Well, just a little different. I went for the Chicken Parmesan. The menu said I could choose between alfredo and marinara, but I kind of wanted both. I’m like that. Since the sauce was already on the noodles, I asked if I could have alfredo noodles with a scoop of marinara over the top. Like most Disney CMs, they were happy to do whatever they could to make it the way I wanted it.

It was a great choice. I liked it a lot. The chicken was fresh and crunchy. The alfredo pasta was kind of dry but the marinara fancied it up. It was delicious. The breadstick was dry and too hard, plus not very warm. Still I would order it again without a doubt.

Since the fountain sodas had been a miss every time, I decided to get a bottle of soda. Wise choice. It also meant I had some left over for in the morning, so it was a win/win.

Looking forward to reading about your adventures as a CP CM! Great reviews so far!:)
