Hi. I have booked & paying cash for Dec 31 -Magic-now im in a new relationship & would like my BF to go with us, (my DD 27 & myself) Can I use points for just 1 guest? Thanks

Yes you can. We have only cruised once using just points...the other two times we combined cash and points and it worked out just fine.....

Call MS to be sure - but I'm reasonably sure that if you are planning to add your BF to your cabin (which you already booked for cash via a TA or the DCL), the answer will be no.

To pay with points, you must book the cabin through MS. At least one person must pay with points and the cash price for the others in the cabin will be the price DVC negotiated with DCL. That price may be more or less than the price currently being charged by DCL or a TA.

Best wishes -

Assuming you booked through a TA or DCL directly, the only way you could use just points for your BF would be to book an entire extra cabin. You could also book using points and cash through DVC then cancel your cash reservation but you'd lose your assigned cabin.

Try renting your points and use the cash to add him - you'll make out better.
We cruised on points a couple of years ago; we are going again on 12/24 - - this time we rented out points and used that cash for the cruise. It took about half the number of points it would have cost to cruise on points.

Out of curiousity...I know that when combining cash & points for the Member cruise the full amount of cash is required at booking. Is this true for regular cruises as well?

The cash is due on booking, unlike a TA reservation which is due 60 days out I believe. It varies a little from one cruise company for another, I think RCCL is 70 days out now.
