DCL shows that they CAN cancel cruises for no reason - Wonder's 12/9/12 and on

Most of the other lines do not list other areas for sale until mid march or later. The Carribbean and Bahamas is normally well out and published prior to Europe, Hawaii, Canals, Bermuda..

According to crew last week, Magic will be in dry dock in Venice Aug 2012 for three months, total rehab.

I hope it's after the August 5 cruise to Canada from NYC that we're scheduled to take. Mind, it WOULD be nice to see Venice......

Hummmm. That would mean they are going to be canceling 3 months of cruises on the Magic? The Magic has scheduled cruises during that time period. The Wonder and the other ships do too. If this is true it will mean more cancellations and shuffling coming our way.

I can't see them doing a 3 month re-hab? I guess anything is possible.

Even the DCL CM's are starting to hear rumors. I talked to one this morning when I changed a reservation and she has heard the Eastern Med rumors. She has NO details -just has heard the rumors like us.

Any chance you meant to say August 2013? I just don't see them cancelling 3 months of cruises that are currently being sold.

I hope so, that would work with a possible WBTA late that year!!!

Wouldn't that mean a winter TA? No-don't think that will happen.

It was bad enough in May but in November? YUCK

Don't think so!
Wait, isn't the Magic sailing out of NYC in Aug? How can it drydock in Venice?
Exactly!

I cruised from Barcelona to San Juan last Nov. 28-Dec. 12. It was hardly a "yuck" cruise, as the ship sailed a southern route.

The other lines have had their January- April 2013 itineraries out for since last spring. Why is it taking so long for them to publish the Magic and Wonder itineraries? I've cruised on 3 other lines in addition to DCL. DCL's lack of organization of their itineraries makes me very wary of sailing them again. In any case, for certain, I won't sail them again unless they go somewhere other than the Caribbean and Mexico.

St Maarten list the Magic there for Oct 22. I am betting that the ship will leave on or around Oct 12/13.

My mistake! :confused3:confused3:confused3

Aug 2013, that is why there is no itenerary. Three months rehab, total make over, Venice. Not sure yet if they will have TA with passengers or just crew. No word on Eastern Med. A little bird also told me there are 6 new "Magic" class ships due to be built.

They should give it Dream features during the dry dock. I know RCL gave the "older" ships features from the Oasis of the Seas.

6 new ships?! That would be awesome. Maybe with that, they will be better at announcing their itineraries and we won't have a huge debate speculating about it on the boards!:rotfl2:

That makes sense! I bet ppl will be happy with summer med cruises!

Other cruise lines have their Caribbean itineraries out through April 2013. (DCL now has their Bahamas and Caribbean itineraries on the Dream and Fantasy out through Dec. 2013.) Most haven't released Europe or Alaska for 2013, and won't until spring 2012.

Sounds like more of an issue with ports and contracts than cruise lines!

Most of the cruise release seasonal stuff like Europe, Alaska, Canals, Hawaii in the spring. As most lines are trying to get Contracts with the ports. If you look in the winter at the Carribean it is full of ships and then in the summer it is a huge difference as a large number have left for other places. When we booked Radiance for Hawaii for 07 fall it was late March of 06.

They also have their 2013 January - March Asia, South America, Hawaii, Australia, South Pacific cruises out already. Europe and Alaska cruises don't happen until later in the year.

DCL is now in a position where they don't have cruises for a ship and its now less than 12 months until those dates. Many cruisers plan much further in advance.

IMO, this lack of publication of cruise dates will not help DCL's bottom line. They'll be in a position where they have to discount in order to fill their ships.
