DCL sailing out of So. Cal.--do you think it will ever happen?

Hi everyone LIVE from the Magic:

At the Castaway Club reception yesterday, Captain Tom said the announcement of repositioning and/or new ship will be announced in March. We can keep our fingers crossed

If a change is in place for 2005 cruises I don't see how it could involve a new ship (when Disney has no new ships on order -- and it takes years to build -- and it would take a long time even to retrofit an existing cruise ship to accommodate the "Disney" look); so I'm thinking it has to involve a new itinerary for and/or repositioning of Magic.

Just in case - I already sent an Email to DCL asking them if they do have a repositioning cruise from Port Canaveral via the Panama Canal to LA, to please put me on a wait list if that would be possible.

Okay, I just booked our March 2005 cruise with our travel agent (Costco - terrific by the way!) and she was very confident that they are moving a ship, via a special cruise through the Panama Canal to LA. She said they have made arrangements to share the port space with one of the other cruise lines that operates out of San Pedro (LA) - but I couldn't remember which one she said it was. They will be offering Mexican Riveria Cruises through the summer months and using Disneyland's 50th Anniversary as the promotion. Then, at the end if the summer, it will have a special cruise, through the Canal again, back to it's home in Florida.

She also said if this is successful, which it will be, they'll probably just add a permanent third ship to LA down the road.

I hope they do a combination of short cruises and long cruises. They could do that in Florida as well. Just alternate 3 day and 4 day cruise one week and a 7 day the next.

WOW that would be great we would save alot on air. I have more than two fingers crossed on this one come on Michael bring it to California.:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Andy and I are hoping for it to be a California cruise so that we can celebrate our 50th with Disneyland in style!
