DCL ruined ‘the world’ for me. A first-time cruiser on the Wish.

We've changed the way we want to vacation, especially as we get older. I never felt a WDW vacation was relaxing and now with the higher prices, genie+, etc....just something we are not interested in doing. We'll still go to WDW but probably do more of a resort stay and go to park(s) once or twice and DS at night, no need for park hopping. Maybe even go to Universal? Certainly less days. We have a cruise planned at the end of this year on The Fantasy and in 2023 on The Wish.

I agree about a lot of this, except the food. In my experience, most table service meals at WDW are fresher and tastier than most MDR food on DCL (which is to be expected, since those meals on the ships are mass-prepared). Sure, MDR food is better than DCL counter service, but that's not a like to like comparison. So I'd caution anyone who goes into it expecting the food to be amazing. It's okay but nothing awesome, except for at the adult upcharge restaurants.
That's fair. It's easy to forget as you're sitting in the beautifully themed dining room that obviously cost millions of dollars to build, with your attentive servers, that behind the scenes it's a huge assembly line style operation, not a chef lovingly preparing your plate. Don't get me wrong, they do an amazing job given the number of meals they serve. For a banquet style meal, it's far above average, IMO.

And I agree, the upcharge restaurants, where they do actually prepare one meal at a time, compare well with good land based restaurants, at a great price.

the ships horn is my ring tone. I rarely turn my phone ringer actually on, usually it's on silent so if it's on there's a reason and I am not a phone person. ringtone makes me smile every time and that's helpful for introvert me.
The ship announcement chime is my ringtone. When we were on the Wish last week, every time there was an announcement, I unconsciously grabbed my phone thinking it was ringing! 🤣
