Doxdogy:
My family of 6 just came off a
RCCL cruise, Adventure of the Seas, after already doing 6
DCL. I am planning on doing a full review and comparrison in a future thread.
Stacey had very good PROS. Now before I say anything else, please know that I am a true blue diehard Dis fan. I already have two more DCL trips books. But after cruising on RCCL, I realize that that DCL does have a few drawbacks.
1) Size. RCCL Voyager class ships are huge and I never found any bottle necks or difficulty finding a deck chair by the pool. The main pool is twice as big as DCL. The main problem I found on DCL is the photo area, Shutters. The area is usually crowded and hot, due to the smaller size as well as the fact that the gallery also serves as the main passageway going fore-aft on deck #4.
2) You said your DD is 26, so kids club issues do not apply, but on DCL, many families travel and want to utilize the kids club. We have found kids clubs on DCL to be crowded at times, to the point our kids wanted out, while on RCCL they greatly enjoyed the clubs because the size of the groups were managable.
3) Since it will only be the two of you, the adults only section on RCCL was much larger and ornate. Spa on DCL we find to always be fully booked, while RCCL had open availabilities.
4) One more, even though DCL has significantly larger staterooms, I found RCCl to feel more roomy. First because of the layout. On outside cabins, DCL puts the bed between the entrance/bath area and sitting area. RCCL puts the bed at the rear of the cabin. In the past I thought it inconvenient to continually have to manuever around the bottom of the bed to get from one side of the room to the other. On RCCL the color scheme of light pastels gave a more open and airy appearence. DCL use of traditional Navy and Red colors cause the opposite.
So in summary, if you are a Disney Lover, do the DCL. It may cost you more, but DCL is a realy classy operation.
