We leave Saturday for our Western cruise and last night while packing, dh expressed his CONFUSION.
And I thought I would come to the DIS and see if anyone can expain, since my explaintion wasn't good enough :) LOL!

Why is FORMAL NIGHT on a regular rotation dining night??? Shouldn't formal night be during the Captains Gala or the Master Chef's dinner? Why not a special dinner for formal night??

Anyone have an explaination???

thanks,
Kamy:p

I think it is because the formal & semi-formal events are on sea days so people aren't rushing back from excursions. And the rotation dining is on the 1st 3 nights then the other stuff. The idea being that it keeps everything equal. Otherwise (I think) depending on the rotation someone might actually eat at Animators more than once and not see "the show" because their stop at Animators was on a "special" night. This way the first 3 nights are show nights and the rest of the cruise is the unique to 7 day.

Ok, if anyone has a better explanation than that I'm all ears as well!

Thanks!

I think the main confusion is that FORMAL NIGHT is on a rotation dinner night and SEMI FORMAL NIGHT is on Captain's Gala night (both at sea days). Seems they should be switched.
JMHO.

You're right - that would seem to make more sense. I wonder if the thought is the more formal should come first because people tend to get more casual as the cruise goes on? Or if they are bringing their own tux, etc. if the spill they can regroup more easily into a semi formal than a formal?

It would be interesting to hear from someone on the inside with this info....

Hey Kamy,
I agree with the switch of the semi/formal nights too. For what its worth we are going to be formal both nights, for me and DS one tux/two shirts each and out, no jacket.

Hey take good care of the ship, we will be two Western trips behind you.

All the Best,

Hopefully DCL will take a look at this. Would be a great thing if they changed the semiformal and formal nights on the western!
