Disney Cruise Ship Sweeps U.S. Cruisers' Choice Awards
Disney Cruise Line's Disney Fantasy was named Best Large Ship in Cruise Critic's 2013 Cruisers' Choice Awards. The ship also took the top spot in the Large Ship Best Cabins, Best Entertainment, Best Public Rooms and Best Service categories.

This is only the second time in the history of the awards that Disney has earned a top spot in any ship category, let alone five top spots. Last year, Disney Fantasy also topped the Best Cabins list.

"What's really exciting about Disney Fantasy is that with the addition of this new class of ship, Disney is really starting to reach out and appeal to a broader base of travelers," Carolyn Spencer Brown, Cruise Critic editor in chief, said. "Disney's gone from being a niche line to one that's comparable to something like Celebrity or Princess. The high scores that we are seeing almost across the board are a testament to how well-run and well-designed the ship is."

The 2012 Cruisers' Choice Awards winners were selected based on reviews submitted by cruisers for cruises taken during 2012. Awards are given in three ship classes: small (1,199 passengers), midsized (1,200 – 1,999) and large (2,000+).

"These awards are based entirely on reviews submitted by cruisers, so they offer a terrific insight into what consumers think of the ships they have sailed on," Spencer Brown said.

    Other winners this year include:

Holland America's Noordam – Best Midsized Ship

Azamara Club Cruises' Azamara Quest – Best Small Ship

Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas – Best Large Ship for Fitness, Best Large Ship for Embarkation

Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Spirit – Best Midsized Ship for Value for Money

Crystal Cruises' Crystal Serenity – Best Small Ship for Dining, Best Small Ship for Entertainment

You can find the full list of winners here.
