Cancellations/Refunds

Cancellations must be made by telephone or in writing. Changes to the vacation commencement date or changes of Guest names will be considered cancellations. If the cancellation request is received 90 days or more days prior to vacation commencement date for Category 1 through 3 or 75 days or more prior to vacation commencement date for Category 4 through 12, 100% of the amount of the vacation price paid will be refunded. Cancellation requests received less than 90 days prior to the vacation commencement date for Category 1 through 3 or less than 75 days prior to the vacation commencement date for Category 4 through 12 will be assessed cancellation fees as follows, regardless of resale of stateroom or hotel room.

· 89-45 days prior to vacation commencement date (Category 1 through 3), deposit amount per Guest
· 74-45 days prior to vacation commencement date (Category 4 through 12), deposit amount per Guest
· 44-8 days prior to vacation commencement date, 50% of vacation price per Guest
· 7 days or less prior to vacation commencement date, no refund

No refunds will be made in the event of interruption or cancellation by the Guest after vacation commencement date. All appropriate refunds will be made directly to the Guest’s credit card account or through the Guest’s Travel Agent if the reservation is made through a Travel Agent. Disney Cruise Vacations is not responsible for the receipt of refund monies by Guests from their Travel Agents. All travel documents including airline tickets must be returned before refund processing can begin. Certain Travel Agents may withhold an agency cancellation fee. Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to restrict any changes to a reservation. All changes are subject to availability. Please note that changes made to overall party size may result in a change to the rate. For your peace of mind, we recommend the purchase of the Vacation Protection Plan. Insurance is not in effect until final vacation payment is made. Premiums for the Vacation Protection Plan must be paid by the final payment due date.

Thanks so much sounds like there is now worries about booking early then? Thinking of booking a cruise way out in 2007 once they release bookings and was just wondering if I needed to worry about cancelation insurace right away or not.

OK, that reminds me that I need to get insurance for the cruise that we just booked for 12/06. You have a 10 or 14 day window for preexisting conditions to be covered by most insurance policies.

I have medical travel insurance through my work so don't have to worry about that part of the insuracne but will probably buy the interuption/cancelation part. When dose this need to be bought? 75days out?

Your medical travel insurance thru work wouldn't cover the cost of your cruise if you or someone broke your leg or came down with pneumonia the week before you were suppose to leave, would it? That is why we purchase travel insurance. DS & I have allergies, which if they were to get out of hand could turn into something much more serious. My MIL has stage 4 colon cancer. If she were to die either right before our trip or during our trip, we would not be covered with that insurance for cancelling if we chose to do so if we didn't purchase it within the 14 day window that allows for preexisting conditions. Yes, MIL wouldn't be cruising with us but the cancer is a preexisting condition for her. Stupid I know, but that is exactly what I was told by the insurance company.

No the medical insurance has nothing to do with the trip costs just the costs of medical procedures that may occure during our travel. Thats is why I'm still interested in the other half of the insurace the cancelation part. I'm covered for medical expenses but not trip cancelation. I would think that the cancelation insurace should be alot cheaper then the whole medical/cancelation insuracne as the most they would be responsible for paying is the actual cost of the trip say $10,000 where as the medical expence could top $100,000?

So...let me make sure I got this right  We are booked in a category 4. If we cancel up to 75 days prior...we get a full refund?

Also...the 'insurance' only covers cancelations for certain reasons...isn't that right?

Your right about the days before 75 days no fee from Disney but maybe a small fee from your TA? I think differant insurances cover differant scenerios would be interested to learn more about that?

We had to cancel our first Disney Cruise the morning we were to fly down to Orlando due to illness. We called DCL and they suggested that we just postpone the cruise to a later date. We picked a date one year away. We had to pay a slight fare increase but there were no cancellation fees and we did not lose the money we had already paid. They even upgraded our cabin to the next category up. This was a great suggestion on their part.

Of course :smooth:, we couldn't wait a whole year and eventually booked a four-night cruise that we actually took before the postponed cruise. We have our third one booked for May 2006.
