DCL Being Sued By Passengers on March 2020 Fantasy Sailing Who Got Covid

We sailed on the March 6-19 Dream cruise and I thought Disney went above and beyond in their efforts. It started with an RN taking your temperature before you got on the ship. I heard the explanation being given that if you were denied boarding due to a fever, Disney would work with you to make things right.

On the cruise, there were hand sanitizing stations everywhere and CMs were located at various points handing out disinfectant wipes or providing a squirt of hand sanitizer....especially at the entrance to any location that involved food. They also had someone stationed at the self service ice cream machines that was dishing out the ice cream instead of allowing passengers to serve themselves. The buffets were still self serve but the cleaning was constant.

We had an enjoyable cruise despite the Covid Craziness (so much so that we just put the deposit down on another Disney cruise). It was a slap in the face to land in Port Canaveral on March 9th amidst the Covid Craziness. Even more so when I landed in bed for 6 days with a 103 fever on March 20. I was not sent for a test because I didn't have any breathing or smell/taste issues, but Docs are fairly certain that I had Covid. I am fairly certain I picked it up at the Orlando Airport as several TSA workers were diagnosed with Covid shortly after we returned.

These lawsuits reek of an opportunistic lawyer...especially if it is by one of the firms that specialize in suing DCL.

Its so hard to cancel a vacation after all the money and planning we do to prepare so its hard to say what I would have done in their situation ( I dont have an immune comprimised child plus in March alot of us were in denial about how serious this virus is) but I have a hard time not thinking they could have cancelled and sued disney to get their money back if Disney was refusing to refund their money but it sounds like Disney was willing to give them a full refund.

I agree with those who say it's largely about assuaging guilt for a poor decision they made and how so many don't want to take responsibility for their actions.

(There's apparently some rapper (never heard of him...can't type his name on here) who is pitching a fit because he tried to do a trip with family for his daughter's birthday to Disney (I think yesterday, but could have been earlier and the story is just out now) and assumed - in spite of all Disney's information out there that masks are required for all over 2 regardless of situation - they his name and/or the fact that his cousin is autistic the cousin would be exempted from the requirement. All "they ruined my daughter's birthday!!" and stuff. No my dear. YOU ruined your daughter's birthday by assuming you were special.)
