Hi everyone. We are in the process of planning a cruise on the Dream next Oct (as well as a wedding on board the ship so a lot to work out between now and then.) My DFs son will be 12 so in the tween club which has free check in and out. His son has PDD. We obviously don't want him to have free roam of the ship. We want to know where he is at all times.

From what I have seen on the website it is not possible to take check in/out priviliges away from a tween. Does anyone know if they will make an exception for this because of this?

The only option they gave me when I called was to drop him down to the 8-10 y/o club. This would put him in the same grouping with my DD who would be 8 at the time of the cruise but I think the activities may be to young for him. Putting him in the club with my son would not be an option as my son will be 14 at the time and in the teen club. He will be too old. The kids will all be sharing a room connecting to our though.

Any input or help with this would be great. This is not my first cruise with DCL, but it is my first cruise with a special needs child.

Thanks in advance!

I personally would put him in the younger group. Even if they made an exception and told you they wil not let him check out, do you really trust all of the Cms in that area to know and to be as watchfull as they will be with the younger children. If he likes Disney he should enjoy the things they have planned, even if he is a little older. And unless you have already told him, I would not tell him about a group for his age, that way he thinks he's in the right spot. Of course this is a personal decision that you have to make, but in this case I would follow the recomndations by Disney.

I'd check out the Cruise board (or perhaps repost the question there). They've changed up the the kid's programming. From what I understand, kids can now choose activities without regard for age groups (within certain limits). So, doing things with the younger kids should not be a problem. I'm not sure how this change would effect signing in/out though.
