DCL 11/20/03 - Semi Formal Night At Sea
We once again woke up early and enjoyed breakfast at Topsiders. William went to the club right at 9 am when they opened. Mike and Kaitlyn went up to the pool and I went off to the shops on my own! After picking up a few things, I joined them and found a deck chair that was set up next to the slide in the sun. I relaxed for over an hour enjoying the fact that I didnt have anything to do. I made plans with Linda to meet her other in her stateroom at 1 with everyone from the DISboards.
After picking William up from the OC, we stopped in the shop to pick up one more item to take home with us. I noticed that the ship was pretty steady and thought that would be a nice change after rough seas during the week. When we returned to the stateroom, I was stunned to see that the water was not moving past us as it should have been. I looked out the porthole and just then the propellers switched on and started rotating The Magic. I knew that the island that we were near could not be Castaway Cay since there were so many structures on it. We went to find Mike and Kaitlyn on Deck 10 and find out what was happening.
Apparently they made an announcement on deck that they would be stopping to allow an ill passenger to tender to shore. We had stopped at the Grand Turk Islands. From what we gathered during the evening the man had been ill for a couple days and was finally stable enough to be moved, which was why he had not been taken ashore in St. Thomas. We were back on our way shortly and went to lunch at Parrot Cay for the seafood buffet.
I left Mike with the kids to go to visit the DISers on Lindas veranda. We were actually only out there briefly due to a strong cigar being enjoyed on the neighboring veranda. Linda, Mary, Julie, Jo, Kim, and I had a nice visit. Mary and I outlasted everyone and talked for three hours! We enjoyed a cheese and fruit tray and some wine and of course very pleasant conversation. When I met Mike back in the room I found out that the Mickey pool had been closed for two hours do to someone being ill in it. The guys had taken the kids to the Goofy pool where they saw an ice sculpture demonstration and then returned to the Mickey pool.
The kids rested for dinner while we prepared for semiformal night in Lumieres. We had our picture taken by the tree. I enjoyed the lobster tail and of course the warm chocolate lava cake.
We went to Disney Dreams after dinner. It was a fantastic show that made you feel good inside. Yes, I did tear up watching it. William wanted to go to the OC after being disappointed with Hercules so I had to tell him that the club would be closed during this show. I hated to lie to him but he liked it so much that it was worth it. I did take him after the show and didnt pick him up until 11 pm. He was sound asleep on one of the mats after watching The Lion King. We went for a walk on Deck 9 with Kaitlyn after the show and ran into Mary. We were all excited about going to Castaway Cay in the morning.
