DOes DCA still offer the wine tasting? MY sister and I would love to try it. We both love good wine, but have tried very few local California wines. (OH, who am I kidding , I get confused about which fork to use, LOL!) Really though, I had heard that they have shut down some of the things in DCA. IF anyone knows or has done the wine tasting, what was your experiece? TIA

Sooo want to know! I'm underage but my mom would be so excited if I told her I'd take her to some wine tasting! She loves the wine tasting they offer on the DCL, and they give you a nifty little pin for participating! Anywayyyssss!!! Answer, anyone!
:yay:

Yes, they do offer it.:)
Fairycat has done a review of it, I believe. She's enjoyed it a few times. It is something I would like to try, too.

Excellent question. We are interested in this as well. Where does this take place? Is it scheduled like on a cruise, or is it come and go? Thanks for any info. :drinking1 (Pretend that is a wine glass. :))

They have wine walks and beer/spirit walks for $10 and you sample 4 wines from the world or california or beer.spirits.

They have wine and beer/spirits where you are suppoed to get free booze.

Various restaurants have special food and alcoholic stufff offered.

This is a list of the food and alcoholic stufff .

Riesling Flight - Eroica, Washington State, Dr. Loosen, Mosel, Germany, Pfeffingen, Pflaz, Germany. $13
For $13 you would get 8 ounces of wine.

Someone said to skip the lobster roll for ..... reasons. Sliders are very expensive and you could get lots of burgers for that price.

That ws one of the winemaker dinner.

There are still wine parties that are under $100 you could do. Taste will hve a famous Korean group, Nanta I think was the name. Introduction to Wine Tasting also is available.

Do they mind if you take your kids in there? I know sometimes with wine tasting, they don't want kids around, but hey it's part of disney so you never know :)

My dh did the wine tasting in March. He got three 1 oz glasses of white for $10. He thought they would give it to him on a tray and he could come sit with me while he sampled. I ordered just a glass of white zin and was waiting for him so we could enjoy our wines together and people watch.

Instead, he paid and they sent him a little further down the counter where the somelier (sp?) told him about the wine he was drinking. He was up there at least 20 minutes and it was an okay experience for him. Next time we will just order 2 glasses of wine so we can sit and sip and relax.

I was going to the event upstairs at the winery and the CM said he could not go upstairs in the elevator because he was to young, lol. Sorry about the inconvenience but Disney is making sure their rumps are covered as California can be rather strict at times.

In California if a person wins a million dollars they would end up only with a $5 prize. That is California law that all prizes from alcohol manufacturers can not exceed $5 in value. I use to do sweepstakes but would never enter ones with alcohol as why try to win a yacht, trip around the world, or beer cooler if all I get is a $5 gift.

Not sure when your visit is, but most of the events referred to above are part of the Food and Wine Festival, which ends on June 7. But wine tastings (for a fee) are available all year at the Wine Terrace, which is at the Golden Vine Winery between the Trattoria and Blue Sky Cellar. Usually they have a selection of red wines and white wines for tasting, and I think some sparkling wines, also, and sometimes ports. No schedule - you just walk up and pay and talk to the sommelier about which wines you want.

OP do you just mean the wine bar up to the right of Wine Country Trattoria? Or having wines at a dinner?

If so, you can take kids there and they'll tell you where the kids can or cannot sit.

If you do mean the Food and Wine events, they'll have separate rules. But outside the festival it's pretty open.

For instance, go to the Cove Bar...kids can sit at the tables, but not right up at the bar.

Thank you, that was exactly what I wanted to know. I am visiting in July,so unfortunately I will miss the Food and wine festival. I had heard that there was a place in DCA where you could meet with a sommelier and pay a fee for a wine tasting. I am so glad that it is still availabe. Thanks!

I was referring to regular events. I will remember that about the Cove bar. I have heard great things about it. Me and my sister want to leave the kiddos with their daddies while we go do a "grown-up thing"lol! They do not like wine as it turns out, so they will be ecstatic with a beer in the hotel room! Thanks for the info!:woohoo:

In the future you can request to take the wines to the table. They will give you a information sheet and either fill three taste glasses or have you return to the counter as you finish each test. I have seen it done both ways so I am not sure if it's up to the CM or depends on what Disney wants them to do at a certain time. I love to get one of the tastings and one of the cheese, fruit and cracker plates to enjoy at the table.

Because the tasting is on the patio right out side Blue Sky Cellar and WCT yes kid's are fine to be in the space.

Typically the offerings are a Red, White and the Port with Blue Cheese (this costs a little more) tastings. Sometimes they also offer specialty tastings that range from $15-$45 depending on the wines.

I used to go to the tasting counter almost every trip so I have some experience with the wine counter over the years and know most of the CM's. I think its a lot of fun and they tend to have some very nice wines. Also most of the CM's know a lot about wines so feel free to chat with them about the wines and to get suggestions.

BTW if you are unsure of a wine you might want by the glass, ask the CM's for suggestions and also feel free to ask for a taste before buying, if the line isn't really long it's a great way to get to try a new wine you might fall in love with.
