DCA or Legoland?

We are headed to visit my parents' this week in Anaheim, and are planning on doing the MK on our last day, Tuesday the 6th (I am hoping the Easter crowds will have died somewhat by then!)

We are also planning on doing Knott's Berry Farm, and now our debate is between DCA and Legoland for a 3rd park. We've done LL before, but it was 3 years ago, and DS8 barely remembers going, and DS5 doesn't remember at all. This will probably be our last trip out there, as my parents are moving to Central Florida next year.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

DCA.

They are building a Legoland in the Orlando area, at the old Cypress Gardens place (whatever that was, just paraphrasing). So LL can be done there.

FYI, the park that at WDW is called the Magic Kingdom is just "Disneyland" at Disneyland Resort. Though that doesn't stop my brother, who was raised along with me in CA but then went to high school in FL, and now lives in San Diego, from calling it, but at least on message boards, it's best to call Disneyland Disneyland, and leave the MK name for the place in WDW's.

We LOVED Legoland, but I agree with bumbershoot. Plus if you decide to do a day at DCA, you will have the option (with a park hopper ticket) to go over to DL when you are done there.

It's not really the scenario you were looking for, but I would do Disneyland, Legoland, and DCA, and skip Knott's - just my personal opinion having been to them all.

I haven't ever been to Knotts and we were planning to go on our trip next month but after reading a lot on these boards we decided to skip Knotts and do LL. It seems everyone agreed that it wasn't a very good park to go to, especially with younger kids since it is a lot of rollercoasters.

Part of the issue is, this is my mom's deal...she's paying for all of the tickets, except for our 1 day at DL, as we have GAD vouchers. She wants to take the boys to KBF. After doing a ride and height comparison, I agree that we should take KBF off the schedule, as DS5 will not be able to do 15 of the rides, whereas it's minimal at all of the other parks. DS8 is a roller coaster junkie, but he's tiny and will be hit or miss on the 48 inch height requirement.

Oh.......so now I want to change my answer. Is that allowed? I agree with those that suggested DL, DCA and Legoland. I see that your kids are 5 and 8 - such great ages for Legoland!!! Its a little kids park, for sure. They could do Knott's down the road in their pre-teen and teen years, but not LL.

Trouble is us old timers called Disneyland the Magic Kingdom for many many years before WDW existed and for a time after. Thats because Walt himself did as Disneylands nickname. On a recent trip I remember hearing on a recording on the parking tram a reference to Magic Kingdom.

I would go to LL over Knotts anyday, but especially with kids as young as yours. There is a pretty good roller coaster at LL also. Knott's really is more for pre-teen or teens. Not much else. LL is only an hour from Disneyland. There is also some great beaches in Carlsbad while you are there.

We did Legoland a few years ago. Yes its much nicer than Knotts but I didn't care for the 1hr+ car ride. Knotts was much closer to DL and even though its worn around the edges my kids still had a blast. When we pulled into the parking lot on a Wednesday in February there were three cars in the parking lot. You'll never be able to say that about Disneyland. My son went on some of the rides 5 times in a row.

Personally I hated Legoland. We tried it twice (3 years apart hoping we just missed something the first time since so many enjoy it)and the kids had an ok time but they all agreed it was not something they wanted to do again.Since you can normally get tickets fairly inexpensively you can give it a try. Like I said most people seem to really enjoy it.

Upgrade you GAD tickets to 2 day park hoppers, you may be able to get to So Cal rate with your mom there, so the cost will be very low.

& park hop both days.

(or better still park hop all three days if you follow samkj & my advice of dumping LL & KBF )
