DCA entrance through GC

Last year my husband and I used this entrance even though we were staying @ the DLH. I read something that had me wondering if this entrance is only for GC guests, or anyone who is staying @ a Disney hotel.

My thought is if it is only for GC guests, they are going to really start cracking down in the morning w/ the WOC showpass herd thundering through.

Does anyone know who exactly can use this entrance?

Anyone can use that entrance as long as they have tickets, you don't have to be a hotel guest.

Grumpyskirtgirl, you are correct. The GCH entrance to DCA is now restricted to GCH (and villa) guests only with a current key. I've heard there is zero tolerance. And yes, as far as I've heard, it is due to WOC and the fastpass machines being at GRR.

*It's possible it will be available for any DLH guest (DHL & PP included), but that was not the way it was told to me.*

Sorry about that, I didn't realize that the policy had changed - we haven't stayed at GCH since last year. Glad they made the change though.

I was surprised recently to read that that it technically is only for GC guests. I think they just haven't enforced it - or had a reason to until now.

We were just there this weekend. The sign at the entrance states guests staying at Disneyland Resort hotels may use the entrance. They were checking for room keys for everyone in the party.

I think the CM misspoke to Califgirl (hi!). The website states that the entrance is for all resort guests, and IMO it would be a VERY weird thing for them to do, to close it to DLH and PPH, just b/c of WOC.

It's never been restricted to the Grand only...

Do they just check room keys in the morning? We go in and out through there to go eat at Whitewater Snacks at lunch time. Hardly anyone is there, and I can't imagine why they would make someone go around in the middle of the day. So what about people who are eating at the hotel? :confused3

Leaving DCA thru the GCH entrance is never a problem for anyone. It is only the entering. My experience is they only care in the morning. Once it gets to noon they do not care. WOC may change that but I doubt it.

The CM's at Guest Services just inside DCA sent me through there as the best way to get to Goofy's Kitchen dinner at the Disney Hotel.

We were there last Thursday (we're APs) and used that entrance/exit, both for coming and going. None of the CMs said anything or even gave the, "You're not supposed to use this entrance, but I'll let you threw anyway"-look. I have heard that it will only be issue for entering in the morning from now on, due to the WOC showpass masses.

it was noon, yeah now that i think about it..but if they are enforcing this new GCH /villa rule, then how is that i was able to get in and the other poster was able to get in? you would think that they would of stopped us... hmm :confused3 i don't know, AND just like hydrogusy said--No problem in/out in afternoon, but still you wouldl think that if there was some kind of new rule that we would of been stopped.

In my experience, that entrance is also unofficially an AP perk as well. We've had all kinds of different CM's indicate that this is the case. We've held APs for several years. We've stayed at the GCH three times. Even when we stayed there and used the entrance first thing in the morning, we've NEVER been asked for our resort ID. Once we show the AP's, it's all good. I even asked a few times, "do you need to see our room key", and have been told "no, you have an AP, that's all we need."

YES! that is what i was trying to say, that maybe it's something for the AP's...and i think your right brergnat. It's nice to know that i am not the only one that uses that area to enter/exit.. because i thought i was doing somethin wrong! :)
