Daytona Beach -DCL & WDW

We can fly into/out of the Daytona Beach airport for $80 cheaper than Orlando.

Our plans are to fly to Florida and go to WDW for 10 days. Then we will drive to port to go on the Disney cruise.

Anyone know if using the Daytona airport would be okay? How long will it take us to get from Daytona to WDW? How long to get from the port at the end of the cruise back to Daytona?

Hey, if you can save $80 go for it. But do check rental car rates first (I assume you're renting) to make sure you don't give back all of your savings in the form of higher rental rates.

DAB to WDW is very easy. Take US92 west out of the airport to I-95 south to I-4 west and that will take you to the World. At Sanford you decide to either remain on I-4 through Orlando if it's not rush hour or take TOLL 417 around Orlando if it is rush hour. Travel time is about 90 minutes.

From WDW to Port Canaveral is another easy drive and the travel time is just slightly over 1 hour. Take I-4 to TOLL 528 and head straight east. The 528 ends at the port; just follow the signs to your cruise terminal.

Finally, the drive back to the airport is also simple and routine with a travel time right around an hour. Take the 528 back to the west and then I-95 north to US92 at Daytona.

Thanks Bob! We are still looking at this option and will probably go with it.

Our airfare is $30 cheaper each way for the 4 of us ($240 savings) - this is even more than yesterday because of a sale that AirTran is having.

Our rental car is about $100 more but that still is a savings of $140. I will also be looking at some other companies and coupon codes to get it lower.

We love the ocean and I might even add one night in Daytona before we go home if this works out.
