Are the daybeds only in preferred studios or can you get one in a standard studio? Does anyone know exactly which rooms have the daybeds?

Thank You,

DB Kelly

The only room that has the day bed is the Studio plus rooms. I am told they occur in both the standard and preferred view inventory. I don't have a breakdown of standard, pool and BW for this type of room. They previously would guarantee the studio plus but now it's only a request that cannot be guaranteed.

The term "daybed" should not be taken literally at BWV. It is more akin to a bench than a daybed. Only a small child will be comfortable sleeping on this daybed. They are not the same as the daybed found in some of the deluxe rooms.

I tried to find a picture of the daybed but I haven't had any success. Does anyone have a photo (or know of one) that we could share?

I don't have a photo but remember a CM telling me that the daybeds in most Disney deluxe hotel rooms are the same length as a regular twin bed. However, the "daybed" found in some of the BWV studios is only 5 feet long.

The decorative frame extends taller than the mattress on 3 sides. So anyone who is anywhere close to 5 feet tall will be uncomfortable sleeping on it, possibly hitting their head and/or feet on the metal frame. We felt that a child could be comfortable sleeping on it, up to about age 9 or so. The under-bed trundle mattress at PO is about the same size. HTH.

My grandson slept on one when we went to WDW when he was 9 years old. He is a little small for his age. My grandaughter, who was 11 at the time, could not have slept on it comfortably. It is more of a big bench with a mattress-type chair pad on it.

We had one of the studio rooms with the "daybed" on our last trip. It was a standard view room and the bed itself was not even big enough for our then 8 year old dd. She is tall for her age but the bench is also quite narrow. One turn over in the night and she would have been on the floor.

The mattress is about crib sized and no where near a twin sized bed. It is very hard and narrow, and, utimately, very uncomfortable. More like an upholstered luggage rack instead of a daybed. My then 5 yr old tried it one night, hated it and refused to try it another night. We only had the three of us, so alternate sleeping arrangements were no problem.

The daybed fits in the space where the door would be to connect this studio to a one bedroom. Not much bigger than the width of the door and frame. This is a dedicated studio.

Lisa P.: The CM who told you all day beds were twin sized has never seen a studio plus day bed.

Thanks everyone. It would be for my 5 year old who is small (35 lbs). If she doesn't like it then she can use the sleep sofa.

Let me clarify. They had said the daybeds located in regular Disney deluxe hotel rooms (Contemp, Poly, YC, etc.) were the same length as a regular twin bed. So a small or average height adult could sleep on one of those.

By contrast, the little "daybed" in a DVC studio plus at BWV is considerably shorter, so an adult sized person could not stretch out to lie down on one of these. Hope that's clearer.

In fact, that's what I thought it was. I had no idea it was a "bed" when I had one in my studio.

is a studio plus? We stayed in the BWV Studio (Boardwalk View) this past weekend. This was our first time staying at the Boardwalk Villas and only our 2nd time using our new DVC membership. So, we are still learning all about DVC.

We had the "Daybed" and the Sleeper Sofa. I thought that was something standard to have in the studios?

I wouldn't have been able to sleep on it and I am 5'1". It is fine for sitting on but certainly wouldn't sleep on it even if I was shorter. It had a very thin mattress.

The room you had at BWV was a studio plus. Think of it as a dedicated studio. There are also studios that have a door connecting to an adjacent 1BR. The two rooms together make up a 2BR unit. The doorway is located where the "daybed" is in the dedicated studio. There are no dedicated 2 BRs at BWV, so each 2BR includes a 1BR and a studio.

Would you mind sharing what your room number was? Thanks! ;)
