We awaken on Monday morning to NO wake up call, the first time on this trip.We get up and are out the door of the hotel at 930.We are off to Publix.I used to live in FL for 30 years of my life and could not wait to hit their bakery for breakfast food and that Key Lime Pie.I think of all the Key Lime Pies I have tried in my life, and that includes home made ones with Key Limes off our tree when we lived in FL and even pies in Key West? Publix Key Lime Pies are number ONE.I always get 2 frozen ones from the bakery to take home with me to Michigan. We had to get shaving razors for the boys and some Claritin, DS's allergies are going nuts here.So we hit Publix, drop everything back at the room and off to EPCOT.It being Presidents Day we are sure it will be crowded. We park and enter around 1045 and as we round Spaceship Earth the line is long, we laugh and we know when we go to leave at 3ish it will be dead there and we will ride it then. As we walk into Epcot, we notice a ticket on the ground and its a fastpass for Mission Space.DS15 doesn't feel like riding so DS17 says he will ride alone after lunch. This is the one Disney ride I can not handle.I don't do spinny rides well and I get too light headed for my liking on this ride.YES it is an amazing ride and everyone should ride once because it's an awesome feeling but the lightheadedness I get even from keeping my head straight and looking ahead is not worth it for me.
We know that our only real Lunch choice is Electric Umbrella. We head over and get in the long line already formed at 1100.I get DS15 chicken fingers and DS17 and I get cheeseburgers, which were lukewarm at best, but once we put fresh lettuce and tomatoes on it, it's like a fresh cold sandwich, haha.I should have tried the pretzel bread ham and swiss cheese sandwich. We will be back here next week I am sure I will try it then. After our lunch we head to Innoventions while DS17 rides Mission Space. After we all meet up, we go to Universe of Energy and it is a walk on.Love this version much better than the one they had in the beginning. The humor in this one is more fun. After that, Wonders of Life is open, we are shocked and go in, as it is usually closed. It seems "old" to me now.But none the less we walk around and enjoy ourselves. Back outside we head over to Journey into Imagination and our car for some reason keeps stopping and the timing is off until the last 3 scenes, the first part of the ride the scene would play out between our car and the one in front of us.It was laughable, nothing we can do about it. We head over to the Land and the boys take pictures of the construction going on.We head towards the exit and sure enough Spaceship Earth is a walk on, which we do, we ride it then head back to the hotel to change before dinner at Whispering Canyon and then off to MK for nighttime fun!
We got to our hotel and changed then went to Wilderness Lodge for our PS at Whispering Canyons, we have made PS every time for 3 years and this is the first time we kept them, and I am SO glad we did! What a fun place and great food! And Wilderness Lodge itself,,,,,WOW WOW WOW..if it weren't for the problem of transportation getting to the MK I would stay here.I know you can take a boat there or the bus to TTC then take the monorail, I guess I am just spoiled of being able to walk to the MK from the Contemporary. But I do love this resort. SO Northwestern Woodsy, and so nice and homey feeling to me.Maybe we will try this in the future. The meal itself was awesome! We all had the country skillet dinner, all you care to eat and we enjoyed our server and seeing the kids run around the restaurant with ketchup and it was just a fun, very enjoyable meal!
We then headed to the MK for a few hours as they were open til midnight.Upon entering the gates, a man stopped me and gave me 4 tickets saying he was leaving and that we could use them to get additional fastpasses. How nice of him! We went and got fast passes for Space Mountain and Pooh. We then rode Snow White, Philharmagic,Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain, TTA, Carousel of Progress, then Space Mountain and Pooh.We also saw the Spectromagic parade and stood in front of the castle to see Wishes. The biggest disappointment of the trip as far as Disney goes was Stitch's Great Escape.I will say this, that you have to see it once to see how bad it really is.For those of you who think it is cute or good, I don't get it,it's just sitting in a dark room with sound effects and a little bit of Stitch.I could see if there was alot more Stitch it might save it but sorry, we all laughed at how dumb it was and did not hear one good thing coming from anyone in the room.Other than that fiasco of an attraction, for Presidents Day and 3 hours, we felt that we accomplished plenty! It was a great day! Tomorrow, MGM and late night at Animal Kingdom!
