Hi, We are planning on having a day in Paris on our next trip and I have a couple of questions.
We want to have a boat trip, see the Louvre (not go in) as we haven't enough time we will just wander in the area and we want to spend the main part on the Champs Elysees.
Is it possible to do those three things in 1 day.
It is my birthday on the Thursday we are there so would like a nice meal (not too expensive) any reccomendations.

Any advice welcome.

Boat trip - Bateaux Mouches at Pont d'Alma - less than 10 minutes walk from the Rond Point des Champs Elysées

Louvre you could walk from there through the Tuilleries Gardens to Place de la Concorde and from there it's the start of the Champs Elysées

or when you arrive from DLP get the RER to Charles de Gaulle Etoile walk down the top half of the CE to the Rond Point and along to the Bateaux Mouche and after that either continue walking down the CE, across Place de la Concorde , the Tuilleries and arriving at the Louvre or get the metro at Franklin Roosevelt or Champs Elysées Clemenceau and get off at Palais Royale - Musée du Louvre.

What are you going to be doing on the CE as it's not that interesting these days unless you like looking at car showrooms, chain store shops and the odd designer one ?

What sort of budget and type of food are you looking for as anything on or near the Champs is pricey and often not brilliant (especially on it) :)

Thanks for the info Carrie, DH is car mad so thought he would enjoy it ,I thought the Champs Elysees would be an experience for our DD's 16 and 13 but if its not that good we might spend more time elsewhere. The budget for the meal would be about 100 euros or less if possible we like all types of food especially Italian but were easy going.
Thanks again

Car showrooms are interesting if you like cars ;) They have some very nice futuristic ones that you won't see elsewhere

You've also got Peugeot and Citroen

The rest of the shops are mainly chainstore - H&M, Gap, Levis, Nike etc etc. There are several galleries that sell clothes mostly sold to Middle Eastern women and then the luxury brands like Louis Vuitton. After that it's fast food places, over priced cafés and restaurants and a few cinemas

If you wanted to window shop brands like Chanel, Dior, Prada etc you should go down the Avenue Montaigne which is at the Rond Point des Champs Elysées and at the bottom of this street you have the Bateaux Mouches.

Walk around the area using Google Earth and see what you think :)

For that sort of budget you would be better going towards St Germain or maybe in the Marais :scratchin

Have a look at The Fork and see if any of the restaurants on there appeal as they do special offers and the rates are helpful.

I'll have a think, when would you be going ?

We will be at Disney 11 to 16th Nov. We plan on going to Paris 15.11 . Not sure whether to eat at lunch time or night.
Thanks for the links (the fork) has loads of choice. :)

if you use the metro you can fit a lot into a day very easily. I suggest leaving Champs Elysées until the evening as that's when you get the best atmosphere and everyone comes out in their posh cars to pose ;P

I wouldn't suggest eating there though as the food is very overpriced
