last year, when we stayed at the GCH, our room had a daybed. We didn’t ask for this and think it was the first time we’d recieved a room with one. We did stay in a newly refurbished room so maybe it is the standard now? Although we didn’t expect the daybed it turned out to be an amazing extra for our travel group and we’d love to have it again for our trip this July. Is this something we need to call in and request? I have stayed at this hotel sooo many times but never once thought about this. Any help you can offer would be great!

Never hurts to include a request with your reservation.

Did you stay pre or post remodel? The days beds of old are gone, now 300 of the rooms have "convertible sofas" that flip down to an actual twin bed...but they do still refer to them as Day Beds.

You can make the request, but they are not guaranteed and usually given priority to reservations that book with parties of 5 per room (hint hint)

All GCH rooms (not including suites or VGC) have either a sofa (non-foldout) or a daybed. The 300 daybeds are spread across all room view types (the 39 old daybeds were all standard view near the front entrance).

I apologize, as I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I have the exact same question only with the Disneyland Hotel. We are a party of 4 (DH, DS16 and DS14) and we will be staying in the DLH in August. Kid #1 won't sleep with kid #2, because he's a blender! I've been told two totally different things by two different CMs. One told me that ALL DLH rooms (we have a premium view room) with two queen beds have a daybed, which is exactly what we need. A second CM told me that's not true, and that all I could do was make a request and hope that a room with two queen bed and a daybed is available. She said that parties of 5 are given preference, which, I totally understand.

Could anyone shed light on the DLH situation vs the GCH?

TIA!

Are y'all talking about daybeds, or Murphy beds?

If you're actually talking about Murphy beds, they have them at several of the WDW resorts. Keep in mind that they are a bit smaller (both shorter AND narrower) than any normal bed. They're mainly for kids, and anyone much over 5 feet tall won't fit in them well at all.

Like mentioned earlier, they're mainly reserved for parties of 5.

We stayed in during the remodel and We had a new room

We stayed during the remodel and in one of the newly refurbished rooms. We had a little pull out Bambi bed ( haha..excuse that wording). Last time we had four people and received it.. this year we will have five.

That's a Murphy bed. Disney might call them daybeds, but they are shorter and narrower than an actual daybed.

Just FYI for anyone who might be making plans based on getting one.

That's a Murphy bed.
Disney calls it a "Day Bed" on the GCH booking site.

Disney does call the single bed in VGC a "Murphy Bed":

Well, one of the CMs is wrong! I have twice stayed in rooms at the DLH that had 2 queens and no day bed. One was in the Fantasy tower and one was in the Frontier tower. The 3rd time we got a room in Fantasy with a daybed. I would call the hotel directly to put in your request and make sure they know it’s your first choice.

Re: DLH - The majority of 2 queen rooms have a day bed. But there are some without. Put in your request, it should be honored.

@DisBuckMan , our youngest is a tiny dude. He fits fine on the daybeds/Murphy beds at WDW, so whatever DL has should work for him.

Thanks, everyone for your info! I have made the daybed our first choice with the CM when I booked, but I will call DLH directly to double check that it's noted as my top choice.
