Hi all. I've stayed at the Contemporary before but never unfolded the day bed. Has anyone here slept on one? Was it comfortable? Did housekeeping provide extra bedding for it? The reason I'm asking is that I may be sleeping on one if I travel with family. On my last stay there I never checked it out so I have no idea whether it would have been good to sleep on or not.

My brother (32 yrs old) slept on it our last trip for one night. He said it was fine. Basically it was like a twin or a junior mattress. Very thick and springy. There were sheets, blankets and pillows in the closet for it.

One of our (18 year old) boys slept on the day bed last fall, and it was fine. After the first day, the housekeepers had it made up for us when we came in late, not that there's much to do. The rooms are HUGE!

I have a question? What do you mean "unfold" We're thinking about a trip to CR, but I assumed the daybed was like the one at the Poly--just take off the pillows and use like a twin bed.

I thought it unfolded somehow. I thought I remembered there being some sort of handle device at the top to open it up. New question: Does the day bed open up? Or do you just sleep on it like a sofa? Or do you simply take off the back cushions?

Sorry for the questions. I just am trying to decide whether I could tolerate one for 8 nights.

Oh no NCRedding!

They unfold. I was not being successful in getting it unfolded by pulling on the strap. The back part of the day bed which your back rests on while sitting folds over to make a twin bed. I stood on the bed to give the strap a good yank and my feet went through the two folding parts and my head hit the table. All I remember is saying "I'm okay, I'm okay! I don't know how I'm alive, but I'm okay!" Needless to say after that my family died laughing. After that my husband always opened the day bed for my son. If you can't get it open just call housekeeping and they will explain the procedure.

Oh Lori! That must have been painful! (Note to self: Move table before opening :earseek: ) Thanks for the clarification. :)

We stayed at the Contemporary in a tower room in April this past year and the daybed did not "unfold" you just took the cushions off and laid down.

My DS-11 slept very peacefully there. It's probably about as wide as a cot, but much more comfortable. I think it's so great that they have them.:D

Yes there are handle/straps to pull the bed down.
We were in the tower - 8th floor.

My DD slept on it for 10 nights - loved every minute not sharing a bed with her DB. princess:

We were confused on how it worked the first day. With in a minute of our call to the front desk - house keeping was there to set up the day bed and make sure we had enough pillows and blankets. Service could not have been better. They were great. :)

The bed wsa made for my DD each day, just like the 2 queen beds. Her Disney characters were arrange on the day bed for her when we returned from the park each day. (yes we tip daily)

So - do not hesitate to use the day bed at the CR and do call the front desk for help in using it.

Poor person who slept on top - when there were sheets and a mattress beneath him/her. :earseek:

The daybeds must be different at the Poly . Those do not fold at all. You just remove the back cushions, take off the spread and presto! You have a twin bed fully made up already with sheets. Extra pillows and blankets are always in the closet. Why would they have two different types of daybeds?
