Day 9 Saturday 7/14/01 Finally, A water park.
Cast of Characters:
Me - Now referred to as Spanky thanks to Cousin Dave at 50's Prime Time. 3rd trip.
Michelle - My lovely wife who has had to endure all the changes that I've thrown at her concerning this trip. Is now starting to understand my Disney obsession. 6th trip.
Devon - An eating machine. Just turned 15 but still my baby. 3rd trip.
Jordan - Loves to have things his way. Just turned 12. 3rd trip.
Camryn - A true princess. 3 almost 4 going on 25. Now also referred to as Sugar Booger. Also thanks to Cousin Dave. Willing to try anything once. 1st trip. She is so excited.
Saturday. How can it be Saturday already. We just arrived it feels like. Two more days and we have to go back. Back to work and everything that we have just had to escape from for a little while. We have slept in a little today. I feel rested and ready to go. No sign of that nasty bug that was ruining my evening. Today, we head to Blizzard Beach.
We waited until we got to Blizzard Beach for breakfast. Last time we were there we found the little place close to the entrance that sells these little mini donuts. They are exquisite. Freshly made little wonders still warm coated in sugar. Non fattening and oh so good for you. They of course sell these by the dozen, so I order two (Had to share). Wash them down with some cold milk and let me at those waterslides. Total damage came to $11.00.
We head for the ski lift with the intent on riding Teamboat Springs first. I thought Saturday was suppose to be the busy day at the Magic Kingdom. Apparently, no one told all of these people. We waited thirty minutes to ride to the top of the mountain. We then waited another thirty minutes to ride Teamboat. So much for this, let's grab a tube and just float around the park for awhile. It was wall to wall people here too. Bail out of this and take Sugar Booger to Tikes Peak for awhile. She has a blast on the slides here. Wish they would let me go with her. Me and water slides are not compatible though. For some reason, I stick. I can get on a speed slide where everyone else hits 60 mph and it's as if I have velcro stuck to my body. I just don't move. I end up having to scoot down these slides. My boys and Michelle of course think this is hilarious and will laugh til they cry at the site. I on the other hand find it completely embrassing. There must be a reason for this.
By a little after noon we all are hot and frustrated. Time to get out of here and head back to the hotel. The crowds here are just too much today. We do manage to pose for a few pictures on our way out though.
Back at the hotel, we stop by Tubbi's to grab a quick lunch. I have a Cheeseburger. Jordan decides to partake of the cold cut hoagie. Devon gets a chicken sandwich. Michelle goes for a hot dog and so does Camryn. Total with discount came to $33.82. I was somewhat disappointed in this meal. Food was fair. If I had not gotten the 20% off this meal would have been well over 40 dollars. Now I don't mind paying for a good meal, but I thought this was definitely over priced.
Now I know everyone says to stay clear of the Kingdom on Saturday, but since everyone was at Blizzard Beach we give it a shot. Camryn still has several things on her list that she feels must be done. So we head out once again. First stop is picking up FastPasses for Buzz. Off to Barnstormer. Everyone loves this kiddy coaster. Just wish it was a little bit longer. Next come the teacups. Camryn has been eyeing the picture of all of us at home in the teacups for years. She has to do this. We split up and Devon and I get in one cup and everyone else gets in the other. They were smart. They did not want to spin. I thought I would be ok, but man can that kid spin a cup and its saucer. When they finally stopped the ride, I still kept going. I was still spinning for a long time after this ride was over. Next we had to hit Haunted Mansion one last time and then the Carousel. Michelle, Camryn, and I now went and staked out a spot at Belle's Storytime next to the castle. The boys decided to go off and do their own thing for awhile. This is a great spot to just sit and relax. Michelle ran out and grabbed us Mickey Ice Cream bars and we enjoyed the moment. Soon the boys were back. Unfortunately we had not finished our Ice Cream in time and so we had to buy a couple more bars. We had been caught. Jordan decided to go off and ride Space Mountain again while we waited on Belle. We waited and relaxed and just as it was time, the music started. All of the kids were getting excited. And NOW rain. Time to break out our matching wardrobe of ponchos. The show is being delayed until the rain passes. Luckily in a matter of minutes, the front has passed through and it's on with the show. This is a very intimate little setting. There are only about 10 benches that will hold three people each in this whole area. Belle comes out with her helpers and she starts selecting her cast for today's story. She tries to choose one little boy to play Gaston, but he has a fit. Camryn waves her hand to volunteer and she is off to the stage. They outfit her in a coat that has these huge muscles padded into it. They recreate the story of Beauty and the Beast. I think we took an entire roll of film and videotaped the entire thing. It was precious and all of the guests had a great time. After the story, Belle stays and visits, signs autographs, and will let you take as many pictures as you want.
We head off to meet Jordan and hit Buzz one last time before we bid our farewell to the Magic Kingdom. This of course after we make that one last stop at the Photo Shop.
Tonight I had made a PS for Whispering Canyon. From all I had read I was really looking forward to this meal and had intentionally scheduled it towards the end of our week. We head over to WL a little early to look around. None of us have been here before and I wanted to do some exploring. What a beautiful resort. Someday we will have to stay here. We take a few pictures around the grounds and then head off to dinner. Tonight we have Dizzy Lizzy for a waitress, and yes she was. Had to ask multiple times for refills on drinks, etc Michelle and I have the BBQ skillet. The boys share an order of Gold Rush Nachos and then share the Grilled Chicken Pasta. Camryn of course decides to partake of the Chicken Fingers. All of the food I thought was very good. Especially the pulled pork. I was somewhat disappointed though in the service (entertainment). There seemed to be one or two waiters that were having a good time with their tables, but it was all the way on the other side of the restaurant. No ketchup piled up on tables, no big silverware, no stick horse races, and no long straws. Finally as we were leaving we asked if they could do a horse race before we left. They did and Jordan and Camryn each got a certificate. With all I had read I was expecting a little bit more. Food was great, wait staff was so-so at best. Sorry. Guess we just picked an off night. Total came to $101.00 with tip.
Head back to the Dolphin and stop at the Boardwalk for some Ice Cream. Get some rest as tomorrow is the last full day and we still have a lot on the calendar.
