Day 7
AK
Epcot

Cast: Myself
AJ (14 year old son)
AJ (14 year old nephew)

We had an 8:00 PS at Donald’s Breakfastosaurus. The boys really enjoyed this. We met Donald, Goofy, Pluto and Mickey. Then we were off to the Safari. I seem to be in the minority here but I didn’t really care for it. I just didn’t think it was anything very special. We went to the rapids and I thought it was just ok. I thought it was too short. I had my poncho on expecting to get really wet but the boys didn’t wear theirs. They didn’t end up getting very wet either. We then went to It’s Tough to Be a Bug. I really enjoyed this show. We did the Dinosaur ride and the new twirl ride (I can’t remember the name) We wanted to go to Tarzan rocks but we got there 2 minutes too late. We did a few of the trails then felt we had done all of the park we really wanted to.

We went back to the hotel for one more rest. We went over to finish off our trip at Epcot. We started out on the UK side because we hadn’t done this part of the world yet. It started raining pretty good but once again the ponchos saved us. We just strolled the worlds at a leisurely pace. We went to see Shockwave but none of us really cared for it. We saw the British Invasion and really enjoyed them. I was disappointed that Off Kilter isn’t at Canada anymore because I had heard so many great things about them. We finished off our great trip with TOD and Illuminations one more time.

Final thoughts

This really was a great trip. I loved taking my kids here but if I were to go again I would love to go without the kids and just take it easy. I never really understood what people were talking about when they talk about the Magic of Disney but I really felt it this time. I would also like to take the kids again but this time not focus on the rides but focus on everything else.

I found the afternoon breaks to be much needed and a wonderful relief. I found my feet getting tired by afternoon but the brief break completely refreshed me. After a while there I was ready to hit it again for the evening.

Ponchos are a must have in the summer! As far as the heat, it actually was cooler in Florida than it is in Iowa and with lower humidity. I didn’t think it was very bad at all.

I had heard that we would need insect repellent and because I always get eaten alive by mosquitoes I bought some for the trip. I forgot it at home but went the entire week and didn’t get bit at all so it seemed I didn’t need it after all.

I think I covered everything. I’ll be happy to answer any questions anyone has!

Your trip sounded great. Three hotels, 7 parks, IOA, US, MK, EP, MGM, AK and Blizzard Beach! and you met a fellow Iowans to boot! I say you deserve another slower trip to recouperate.
Thanks for posting.
