Up early and off to MK, we want to find the paintbrush. But Mom, yes me, in my lack of brain cells have it in my head MK opens at 8am, so we arrive at 7:15a. So we get to TTC and guess what it opens at 9am. What to do??? Hubby’s not thrilled since we woke up at 6:15am. But Mom saves the day. I say “Let’s go to the Poly!” So we get on the monorail…riding up front…ok no one else is there. Arrive at the Poly and I say “Let’s have breakfast at Kona.” Well, Mom’s a hero again! Breakfast was great. I had Tonga Toast for the first time! Yummy! Finally time to head to MK.

We arrive, wander around, and wait about 20 min for the rope drop to Frontierland. Well, guess what? Tom Sawyer’s Raft does not leave til 10am! So straight onto Big Thunder Mountain. This was Anthony’s first time and he loves it! Then we head to Splash Mountain, fun and not too wet! We have about 10 min to wait so we just sit and have a little water. Finally time to go to the island. Anthony can’t wait. When we get to the island the driver tells everyone about the paintbrushes and we’re off the scavenger hunt is on! One thing they really should tell you that you only need to find one for your family. One family had found two. We took a quick left, up some stairs and lo and behold there is the paintbrush. Anthony is soooooo happy! We then explored the rest of the island. Now I don’t want to incite anyone but I couldn’t believe they took the rifles out of the Rifle Roost at the fort. Apparently, Disney had been leaned on to remove them! I don’t get it, I’m not pro-gun, but I just think things need to be taken with a grain of salt…

We grab the next raft and head back to claim our prize. The driver then told us about the rifles in the fort and said that the shooting gallery in Frontierland will probably be closed down too! Anthony was all excited, our prize was a head of the line pass for Big Thunder or Splash Mountain for up to eight people. So Anthony chooses Big Thunder. The pass is great, but not too many of the CM’s know what to do with them. We do our ride and decide to take the train to ToonTown. I love the railroad, always have. We arrive in ToonTown and try to see Mickey, Anthony wants nothing to do with the lines so off we go to Space Mountain. We get to SM and get a fastpass, then head to Carousel of Progress. Anthony and Frank have never seen this. I just love it and haven’t done it in probably 13 years. They both really liked it. Time to head back to SM. We had a ball on Space Mountain. Time for lunch. We head to the Plaza Restaurant thinking it’s 12:30 we’ll never get a table. Plenty of tables we’re seated immediately. We had a nice lunch. Then we meandered through the stores of course stopping for a rice krispie treat and a candy apple. We leave MK, quite content and back to the hotel for a dip in the pool and a rest!

After resting this afternoon we’re up and off to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. When you first approach it the outside is not too impressive. But once you walk in the lobby is amazing. We learned that it took 10 years just to collect all the artwork. The gentleman who did it was put in jail 6 times over the 10 years. Everything is authentic and if you want you can ask at the front desk for a little booklet they have that is a self-guiding tour of the artwork! Eventually we headed out to the savannah. During the day the animals are quite far off but as the day goes on they move closer because the buildings give them shade. There are several animal guides to answer questions too.

After we looked around we headed to Boma for dinner. This restaurant is leveled with the bar overlooking the dining area. This restaurant is amazing as was our waitress. We were first seated by Simba. He was very nice and I actually spoke to him later about the spices used in the foods. Our waitress explained everything, including her likes and dislikes. My suggestion, go several times getting a little of everything. Then the final plate go back for all you liked! The soups are great. I loved the lentil, hubby thought the oxtail was the best. Thank God they had kid food too for Anthony! And then there were the desserts…our waitress suggested we get one plate and put one of everything on it. Then decide what we like and go back. Well, there was no going back since there was no room! I think this is the best buffet that Disney has.

After dinner we headed to the pool. The pool is very nice. It blends beautifully with the surroundings. From the pool are you could see the other side of the savannah. We saw even more animals and there is also an animal guide there.

After dinner we headed to the Marketplace. Anthony wanted to get a new Lego toy and I wanted to get some stuff too. Well, we looked around. Anthony took forever to decide on a toy. Finally the shopping was done and we headed back to go to bed.

What a perfect day!!! Breakfast at Kona Cafe, the paintbrush, dinner at Bomas and shopping at Downtown Disney!!! WOW!!! :D

Off to read your next post! ;)

How cool that Anthony found the paintbrush! I am glad to hear you loved Boma, we have a reservation two weeks from today!

They took the guns out because a little girl got hurt in DisneyLand I believe. She was wearing a ring and I think she might have lost part of her finger. It was a freak accident but you know how everyone litigates. My boys will be very disappointed, they loved to shoot those guns, we had to drag them away from there.
