Morning, Sunshine. Happy Anniversary to Funnyman and me. Today is 4 years from our first date. How cute. Except in my Disney Haze, I forgot. Funnyman had to remind me. Oops.
Today we get to sleep in a bit. We are going to Typhoon Lagoon so that Screamer can go on her first waterslide. We get up around 9:45am and meet at 10:00 to head to the park (no need to shower to go in some chlorine!). I get to place the Antenna topper on today, since it is our anniversary, and we are headed to the Magic Kingdom tonight to see Spectromagic and Wishes.
We are in Typhoon Lagoon’s lazy river in no time . . . floating around, enjoying the water. We stopped at Shark Landing to swim with the sharks. BurgerGuy sits this one out. Apparently he is not the best swimmer and doesn’t like the idea of having to worry about it with live fish and sharks around. I don’t blame him one bit, I get nervous for this one, and I am a great swimmer, and have even done it before! The sharks and sting rays seemed a bit bolder this time. There was one sting ray that insisted upon following me up toward the stairs to get out!! Stay back sting ray! I have a snorkel and I am not afraid to use it as a weapon!! “Careful, K-Bug, that would involve paperwork” LeMonte says in my head.
A bit more Lazy River, followed by the wave pool, before Screamer says she is ready. Bring on the waterslide! We decide to start her off small, and go for the Gang Plank Falls! What a let down. We waited forever and the ride was about 30 seconds long! Up nest was Mayday Falls (I think!). This one was better, but still nothing to write home about. We hopped back in the lazy river to make our way to where we left our towels and sandals, picked up our stuff and headed out. It was only about 12:30pm, so we decided to go back to the hotel, shower up and head to the one and only Beaches and Cream in hopes of tackling the elusive Kitchen Sink.
We plan to meet up at 1:30pm to head out, but after about 5 minutes in the hotel we get a call. Its BurgerGuy. He tells us to turn on our shower . . . I turn it on, water comes out. All is well and good. But the ‘South Tower’ isn’t so lucky. They have no water. We offer for them to come down and use our shower. They decide to wait a bit before making a decision. About 30 minutes later we get another call. BurgerGuy has managed to shower, but about halfway through it, the water turned scalding hot! They are going to wait a bit longer before Screamer tries. By now, Funnyman and I are just about ready, and are just sitting enjoying some much needed rest. BurgerGuy calls back. They decided to fill the tub with the super hot water, and then add some ice from the ice machine to it to make it a better temperature. Just as this was not working, the water temperature returned to normal and Screamer hopped in the shower. We plan to head out at 2:00pm.
We make it to the Boardwalk with no issues, and inquire to the location of Beaches and Cream. A nice Cast Member informs us that it is on the other side, with the Yacht and Beach Club resorts. So we trek over, and get lost in the Beach club and have to ask for directions again! We finally make it to the tiny little restaurant and everyone else’s food look so good. As much as we want to order other food, we stick with just the kitchen sink. The lights flicker, and the waitress walks the sink around the restaurant to show everyone and drops it off at our table. We got little bowls to go with it. No bowls for us! We wanted it straight out of the sink! And it was delicious! I regret to inform you that we got very close to finishing it, but were not able to. Funnyman will never live this fact down: He seemed to think he could handle it all on his own! HA!
We strolled though the Yacht and Beach clubs checking them out and back through the Boardwalk. It was nearing 4:00pm now and we had business at the Magic Kingdom to attend to. So we said goodbye to the Boardwalk, and made our way over to the Magic Kingdom.
We took the monorail over, and headed in. We had a very specific purpose to this trip: To scope out a perfect curb location for both Spectromagic and Wishes nice and early and sit and enjoy the ambiance until parade time rolled around.
Finally, I felt like we were really here at Disney World. For some reason, seeing the castle makes it real that we are actually here. Everyone else was looking forward to the Segway Tour. I had been looking forward to this. Spectomagic and Wishes have always been my favorite Disney attractions.
We were able to get a spot on the bridge going into the hub right in front of the castle. It was perfect. We could not have asked for more. We split up to do a little browsing in the shops and pick up snack and drinks and were able to hold down our spots with no major issue. Our only problem was the family behind us. During the parade, the little girl kept trying to wedge her way in between Screamer and BurgerGuy. She could see perfectly, we were careful to make sure of that, but apparently she really wanted to sit in between them! Then, when everyone was shuffling around after the parade, the girl accidentally kicked Screamer. And hard. Screamer yelled “Ouch!” –It was only then that mom finally noticed what her daughter was doing, and had a discussion with her about people’s personal space.
We didn’t let this ruin our good time though! The parade was fantastic and as magical as ever. Doc kissed my hand, and a fish winked at Screamer. We stayed in the same spot while the crowds moved around a bit, and had an amazing view for Wishes.
This firework show is great. I am always in awe that thousands of people have just stopped wherever they are standing and are staring up at the castle and sky like me. Hopefully they are enjoying it just as much as I am. The last time I was watching Wishes was this past December and Funnyman leaned over and said “I wish I had a ring and could propose to you right now”, and I couldn’t help thinking of that moment tonight, it being our anniversary and all. (Don’t worry; he managed it a few weeks later on Christmas morning.) As I fought back the few tears that were welling up, I enjoyed how lucky I am to be here having such a great time. Eventually, the fireworks ended, and the lights in the park came on. I turned and smiled and Funnyman. Then I turned to look at Screamer. She wasn’t as successful at holding back her tears as I was, and she sent me over the edge. So like idiots, we stood there crying while the masses exited the park.
We moved over to the railing to make more room for people to get by, and waited for most of the crowds to make their way out. Then, the most unfortunate thing happened. A poor little boy, with his family, heading out of the park, was sick. The poor thing must have been so miserable. I hope that he still had a magical day. We tried to tell a Cast Member about the ‘protein spill’ but she just looked at us like we were crazy. Finally, another Cast Member came by and took care of the situation. Then came the jokes from Funnyman about how Spectromagic is so great it will make you sick, and that Disney should use that as their new slogan!
We headed out and decided to sit for a bit and wait for the line for the boat to go down a bit, once it was finally low enough we got in line. We waited, and waited, and waited. No boat. We waited, and waited, and waited. Where are you boat? Finally, the boat came and declared that it was the last one of the night, and we all boarded. It was sad to leave the Magic Kingdom, but we knew we would be coming back tomorrow.
Since it was nearly 11pm when we returned to the hotel, we decided to bypass the slideshow tonight (there is always tomorrow), and hit the hay.

I love the parades and fireworks.....of course even our young grandchildren (at that time) said .....about local fireworks at home.....those are not good fireworks....not like Disney...thanks so much for your report.......I would love to try the Kitchen sink some time too......thanks again
