Day 4 or The flasher at the Studios and Stay close cause short and yellow is no description

Cast of Adventurers

Me: Shelly Disney Nut and wanting to go back to WDW for 12 plus years.
DH: Warren Converted Disney Nut
DS: Brandon, Age 7 Being raised right (a Disney Nut)

The alarm went off and it was starting to hurt. But I mustered my resolve because I'm paying more than the gross national product of some under-developed nations for this vacation and by golly I'm going to enjoy every minute of it even if it kills me (or my family kills me) whichever comes first. The drizzle of the night before is a full-fledged rain. Pretty interesting stuff for us desert dwellers but we came prepared.

Now Warren and I had our pre-purchased $1.99 rain coats. On Warren the look was a classic. He looked like something you would see in the movies. I thought it was very appropriate since we were going to Disney Studios. Of course the title of the movie would be "The Flasher." All you could see were his high-top sneakers, white hairy legs and this dark blue plastic rain coat. I thought I was going to die laughing. It didn't help that his idea of a vacation means that his face does not touch a razor. It was quite a picture. In fact I took several.

There was one small problem with my raincoat (one flasher in the family was enough.) No seriously since I was sitting down and the coat opened up at the bottom my legs got very wet. The other problem we were anticipating because we could not find any children's rain gear before we left home. So Brandon and I got our bright yellow ponchos. Now I was easy to find but you would be amazed at how many short, little yellow people there were. I told Brandon to stick with us because short and yellow was not a description if he got lost and on that day I actually cared if I returned with the same kid I brought. At that time my maternal instincts were still in force. They would not always be (stay tuned for day 7!)

In spite of the rain we had a great time at the Studios. I have a new all time favorite ride: The Tower of Terror. I wasn't sure if I was brave enough but I am so glad I was. I'm not big into gory movies or anything too weird so I was apprehensive. This ride envelops all of your senses and more than any other ride made me feel like I was someplace other than a theme park. After we got off I really felt like I had accomplished something. In fact I was feeling quite giddy and wanted to celebrate. Well Uncle Walt was more than happy to help. I think I left part of my brain power up at the top of the tower and so I thought nothing of plopping down some 60 bucks for t-shirts commemorating the event. I'm sort of surprised that I didn't buy the bathrobes too.

We passed on the Rock-n-Roller Coaster because Brandon was too short, Warren gets sick when he goes upside down and I (yes I admit it) was too big of a chicken to go on it alone. Brandon and I had a great time on Star Tours. At the Indy Show they could only do part of it because of the rain but it was great!

Alright kids are growing up too darn fast. My 7 year old was innocently flirting with the tour guide on the Great Movie Ride. He insisted that he get to sit by her. I think he was a little disappointed when she got traded for a gangster. All I know is that I'm locking the kid up until he's 30. Oh wait I remember what happens in a couple of days. Anyone want a kid? I mean I do. Ok maybe he's not growing up all that fast because he loved Bear in the Big Blue House. So maybe it all equals out. He was dancing in the aisle and having a great time. As I'm typing this I'm thinking what great blackmail material this is when he becomes a teenager.

We loved the Muppets, Sounds Dangerous, Beauty and the Beast, Doug Live, Backlot Tour and the Little Mermaid. By late afternoon we hit the Magic of Animation for the last showing. I don't think we were a hit with the animator. By that time Brandon was pretty tired and he fell asleep during the presentation. I think everything would have been OK if only he hadn't started snoring. We wisely decided to bag Fantasmic. I don't know why we decided to be sensible since we hadn't been all afternoon, I mean all day, I mean all vacation. Commando touring here we come. Honey please set the alarm we need to be up early for the Magic Kingdom tomorrow. Honey, I can't print that!

Gotta love Tower of Terror - it's my favorite ride!

Keep 'em coming, I am really enjoying your reports. :)

I feel the same way about ToT & my 3 1.2 yo DS loved it. I, too, plunked down some $$ for a sweatshirt for him there--of course bought it way too big so he can at least wear it for a year or 2-lol!

"... his idea of a vacation means that his face does not touch a razor. "

I know exactaly what you mean... :D

My big kids loved Bear, too. And since we had a little kid, we saw it several times! ;)

I'm still laughing over the image of your dh in that raincoat :D Thanks for posting this, I had a lot of fun reading about your day.

LOL about DH...I'm surprised they actually let him into the park! ;) Looking forward to reading more....
