The Wal Mart & Beach Day with a bit Extra thrown in!
We all woke just before 7am and stood on the balcony looking at not a lot really as it was still rather dark.
We decided to go for a walk on the beach and wait for the sun to come up. Well it obviously rises quicker than we realised because it was daylight by the time we reached the beach!
The plan was to stroll along the beach, have breakfast and a quick trip round Wal Marts before chilling on the beach.
Ha!!!! The best laid plans and all that!
A Bit of History
2 weeks ago Gabs stubbed her toe at school leading to me spending 4 hours with her at the hospital so she could have the toenail pierced and blood drained out to relieve the pressure.
Fast Forward to 8.30 this Morning
Walking through the hotel lobby on the way to finding breakfast, Gabs somehow catches her flip-flop on Giannis shoe, stubs THAT toe and the nail popped out hanging on to her toe by not very much!
Enz went off to reception who put him through to the Virgin rep, I left Gianni looking after a tearful Gabs whilst I nipped to the room to get insurance details. Gabs seemed to be in a lot of pain but her biggest concern seemed to be how whether or not shed be able do the dolphin swim at Discovery Cove on Thursday.
We arrived at the hospital, Palms of Pasadena, at around 9ish and it looked like it was going to be a long wait. Needless to say, Gianni was getting very restless so I took him for a walk at around 10. Somehow, and I really dont know how it happened, we ended up sitting in a IHOP ordering breakfast as if we didnt have a care in the world! $15 later we returned to the hospital to find Gabs was still waiting to be seen by the doctor.
When the doctor did see her, she pulled the toenail off!! & put lots of wadding and tape on it no flip-flop was going to fit her now!
We drove to a McDonalds to fuel Enz & Gabs of course being 2.30 by now, Gianni & I needed sustenance too!
We stopped off at a beach-wear shop across from our hotel to buy Gabs some velcroed swim shoes to fit her toe into! Of course while we were there more footwear was purchased for the rest of the family
Gabs & I spent a lovely afternoon balancing in the hammocks (Gabs had to hop there because she wasnt supposed to get sand in her toe & sea water was a definite no-no) on the beach while the boys built sand castles and tunnels.
After quick showers & change of clothes we climbed into the car and trundled aimlessly looking for somewhere to eat (this happens quite frequently during this trip LOL).
We ended up at Red Lobster. Why oh why do they insist on bringing out 2 flipping baskets of those moreish Cheddar Bay Cheese Biscuits??!! There are sooooo yummy a bit like a warm cheese scone (Im imagining this as Ive never tried a cheese scone)
We shared a lobster pizza as a starter. I couldnt eat all my main course because what with bread, pizza and the endless glasses of diet coke that kept coming my way I was feeling Christmas Day stuffed! I had grilled tilapia & veg left the potato. Enz had a shrimp platter and the kids had popcorn shrimp & fries. We have brilliant service and it was great value at $55 including tip!
Somehow we managed to climb up into the car and make our way back to the hotel and bed.
