Insane Disney World crew:

Me- (25)-the planner, tour guide, benevolent boss
Mom- (50ish) classic mother, loves family vacations
Dad- (60ish) recently retired, quite laid back, slight troublemaker (in a good way)

Today was the day that I decided that my dad should go to the air museum. For some reason.......he wanted to forfeit a day at WDW to go to an air museum . Personally, I would not forfeit a day at WDW for hardly anything.......but, hey, that’s what makes the world go round. The parents wanted to sleep in and then primp a little before starting their day.......i.e. they were ok with missing early entry......WHAT? Why would anyone want to do this? But, again, different strokes for different folks. So the plan was that I would go to MGM early entry alone to ride TOT and RnR. Then, I would come back, pick up my mummy, and we would both go to the MK. Well, genius that I am, decided that I would leave my room key with my mom so that she could get in to eat her breakfast (which we had in my room). It wasn’t until they opened the gates to MGM 9early entry) that I realized that I couldn’t get in w/o my roomkey. Oops. I was kinda irritated with myself. Then I got a little more irritated when I got back and found that my mom was not ready to go to the MK yet (BTW.....obviously this wasn’t her fault). My dad started making fun of me saying “ooooo, the world is going to come to an end if Karen doesn’t get to the MK by 10:00, oooooooo.” And I was kinda thinking (in a close minded selfish kind of way) “well......yeah!” Anyway, we didn’t get to the MK until around 10:30.....which kinda crawled all over me but luckily I was able to get over it quickly. We rode all kinds of stuff. I started out with Space Mountain, my favorite ride in the park and the one that I must start the day with. It was awesome, as always. My mom rode the TTA during this time as she was not interested in riding. Poor woman, she had to ride the TTA again with me later. Buzz was closed for renovation so we rode Alien Encounter next. I love Tomorrowland. For some reason, this land opens my imagination the most and allows me to feel that I am part of an interplanetary society. I don’t know why. Next we went to frontier land. After a little bit of contemplation, my mother rode big thunder mountain railroad. I think she liked it but I’m not quite sure. I got to hear her little scream again a couple of times. After this we ate lunch, and somehow I convinced my moter to ride Splash Mountain (she was not feeling to happy about the “big” drop at the end). Somehow I convinced her that it was such a cute ride that it would be tragic for her to miss it. We went to Splash Mountain, talked to a cute couple in line behind us (the woman was also uneasy about the drop), and rode. I think that my mom liked it, despite the drop at the end, but not enough to go back. Next, we went to Pirates and Jungle Curise, both of which were neat rides, although, after being in AK, Jungle Cruise was more cute than neat. By the time we got out, the parade was in full swing. We watched the end of this and headed for the Haunted Mansion. What a cool ride. After that, we hit fantasyland. We should have hit fantasyland earlier as it was getting late in the day, fastpasses were running out, and god forbid we had to wait in a couple of lines! Oh, the horror! Obviously we had become a little spoiled by walking on rides w/o lines and using fastpasses. We had to wait 20 min. for both Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh but we were more or less able to walk on the Carosel, Small World, and Snow White. After fantasyland, we staked out a spot for watching the fireworks that I had found on my previous trip. Excellent spot to watch from. It is on a little deviation off of one of the spokes.....I think it is off of the spoke going from the center area in front of the castle to tomorrowland. My mom loved seeing Tinkerbell fly through the sky and the fireworks were great as always. After watching, we followed the heard out through mainstreet (all lit up.....again my favorite, most magical time, in the park) toward the monorail. We met my dad back at the ASMo who was all fired up about the air museum and we headed for Dowmtown Disney to eat at the Rainforest Café. We didn’t have reservations so we had to wait for about 45 min. We all sat at the bar ( on these cool barstools modeled after animal “rear ends”) and had a drink and then we were callsed to sit at a table. This restaurant was really neat! Atmosphere scores a perfect 10. My dad was especially happy with this place. It even had a thunderstorm, with rain and everything. The food was great and my dad claimed that he thought we should eat here again the next night. We loved the place. Then, bace to the ASMo....again, I am just thankful that we are staying onsite and don’t have to leave WDW. My parentst go to bed and I go to goof around the gift shop and then go to bed. Another great day, with 2 more on the way.

Your dad's comment about the world falling apart if you aren't there for opening made me smile - but you are like me - gotta get up and go - can't miss anything - thanks for posting!

You are probably a fast walker...... Just by your comments on needing to be there by a certain time and all. Sounds like me:)
