Woke up to really chilly temps thunder lighting and pouring rain. It was raining so hard, it woke me up at 530 am!
Tried to sleep late, but couldnt due to thunder.
Got up and headed to Denny's across the street for breakfast.
On the way back, we were stopped in the median waiting to go across when a truck hydroplaned and hit us broadside.

No one was hurt, but we were in a rental car, and didn't know how much hassle was going to be involved. Called the police, and they told us to park in the nearest lot, which luckily was our time share presentation building.
We reported in, told them what happened and being really nice people, they excused us from having to go on the tour. they gave us all the booklets, answered our questions and we were done with them

Unfortunately, it took the police over 3 hours to get to us. they had 75 accidents, and 2 people were hit by lightening.
After all the phone calls to rental car co. and insurance etc and all the paperwork, we finally ended up at MGM at3pm

We had not eaten since breakfast, but didn't want to waste time, so we mad e a ps at brown derby for their latest seating which was 7pm,,we knew we would miss fantasmic, but had seen it before, and are coming back for a week in july, so that's ok.
headed to prime time for chicken soup, which hit the spot! had lots of vegies, so I don't know if kids would like it, but i love d it. dh had the fried cheese which was good, but didn't like the raspberry sauce. I'd leave that off next tiime.

FP not working for tot, so off to great movie ride, got off in time for beauty and the beast,. went to tot, 20 min wait, loved it, but didn't seem as scary as used to. Checked out the letters on the board that had fallen off( thanks disboards : )

Off to star tours, shopped a little, then time for dinner at brown derby. We loved it. Had the Cobb salad for two, which I thought was great. I ordered 2 appetizers the crab cake, and the baked onion soup. loved the crab , didn't care for the soup. Had a very strong flavor, but dh really liked it.
He ordered the filet, and it was very good.

Had a great server, good coffee, and the grapefruit cake. We took the cake with us to go, left there, and headed for Epcot for illuminations,
We parked at the boardwalk ( told them we were going to jelllyrolls) walked in the back entrance to Epcot, got pastry for the morning and got in front of morroco for illuminations! Still drizzling.

Headed back to the marriot, a little sore, chilly tired. glad I brought all those layers! Loved my silk underwear!
Again had no problem with the DDE.

plan to get up in time for epcot opening, and meet the new future bro in law!

forgot to tell you what we thought of the grapefruit cake!
When we got back to our room all set for this great cake, took one bite, and said, this is awful!! We laughed, then tried it again, and LOVED it!

I think you have to get past the grapefruit cake combination, I don't know why that first bite was so bad, I guess it was just really different.
Left the recipe at the rest. but found it on allearsnet.com

Can't wait to try to make this one!

I have always wanted to try that cake next visit I will take a piece back to my room

OMG! When we went in Sept. 2003, we stayed at the HRP in the DTD resort area and it rained the first day there. We went on to the MK anyway and returned to the hotel at about 4:30 p.m. As we arrived, a DTD bus SLAMMED right into the side of our vehicle as we were pulling into our parking spot.

NOT a good trip. We ended up going home early and having to buy a new car when we returned home. Hope yours ended up better! :D
