Weaving, Meeting, and Dodging at AK and Fantasmic so titled as the crew went apart and together throughout the day (and most of the rest of the trip too)
THE CAST
Our Group - Disney nuts and recently new DVC members
Me (The planner of all this, Age 39)
DW (Co-planner and voice of reason Age 39)
DD (Age 15 at start of trip, Age 16 at end of trip)
DS (Age 8 and overall good sport)
The Outlaws - Last time at WDW in 1996 with Our Group
MIL (Mother in Law Age 65)
FIL (Father in Law Age 74)
3 Sisters Group - (Mom and Aunt M went with us last year, Aunt D and Rhon havent been since early 70s)
Mom (My mom Age 65)
Aunt M (My moms sister Age 69)
Aunt D (My moms sister Age 62)
Rhon (Aunt Ds daughter Age 42, has MS, but you wouldnt know it from seeing her)
SILs group (Never been)
SIL (DWs sister age 40 Did visit MK once in the early 70s)
BIL (age 38, self proclaimed Not a Park-er)
Niece (age 18 months)
Nephew (age 3)
M&J Brother and Sister in law from NYC (Have been a couple times over the last 10 years)
M (DWs brother age 36)
J - (Ms wife age 41)
Had given notice that our 4 would be at the main Bus Stop at 8:30 to catch the AK bus. Called SIL at 8:10 and she said no way they were going to make it, would catch up later. Her little ones were up a bit late the night before. Also last night, they talked the Outlaws into watching the kids while they had a nice late dinner at Maya Grill. They said the food was excellent! Our 4 did the shower (I shaved) and did the pop tart slam and made our way to El Centro. Also canceled dinner PS for Artist Point as I knew the travel to WL and the pricey-ness would not go over with most of the crew. Maybe another time.
All the others were up and at em and ready in the lobby by 8:20. At 8:25 The Sisters group came back in after we were heading to the bus stop realizing they need to get their park tickets. I point them to Guest Services and we head to Panchitos to wait for them, by about 8:40 I start to walk over and they frantically wave me over. They are a bit confused about what they want to do and what they want to buy. Aunt D and Rhon only want to go to parks 3 days, but want to park hop. Not a good option since only 4 day park hoppers are offered and 3 1-day-1parks arent meeting their needs either. To break the wall, I tell them all to buy 4 day park hoppers and Ill buy any unused days. Theyre happy now, but Aunt D and Rhon decide Rhon needs to take her MS shot before a good walk and that theyll catch up later.
The rest of us get on the bus about 9:00 and upon arriving and entereing AK, head back to KS. Great ride and most animals were out and about. The male lion was pacing back and forth looking at our vehicle like we might be good for breakfast! After KS, we go through PFT so Mom can see the gorillas, her favorite. After PFT we get a call from Aunt D and Rhon, theyre in the park and want to know where to meet us. We're heading to ASIA to see FOW. We meet them on the way, see DeVine, then Rhon and Aunt D decide to skip FOW to ride KS and do the PFT. Flights of Wonder was awesome. DD got her dollar out and was chosen to have the African crow land on her arm, take, then return her dollar. Excellent!!
At this point its about 11:15 and we decide to grab some lunch at Pizzafari, as were getting there I spot Rhon and Aunt D coming our way too, We all stop to eat and our 4 split the Club Sandwich (very tasty!), a personal cheese pizza(okay), and breadsticks( I did not care for these, but DD liked them very much). Afterwards, approx. 12:15 we get a call from SIL that theyre on their way. I called back and said this park closes at 5 and they may want to rethink their plan as were going to do one or two more things then head back to the pool. We head to the Tree of Life and see ITTBAB. Got a kick out of seeing Rhon and FIL jump out of their seats and FILs comment walking out Ill never smash a bug again! LOL. All enjoyed the show and we then headed to FOTLK.
As were walking there, get a call from SIL and theyre in line. When she asks when the show starts ( in about 15-20 minutes) she goes Bummer. We get into the show and find SIL and nephew and sit with them ( Apprarantly BIL and niece could not wait in line and had to hang out by the characters outside the theater We thought these two were back at the hotel) Show was awesome, and I think it may have been one of my MILs favorite. DS and Nephew got picked to participate and dance around at the end of the show, Fun! After the show, Our group, My mom and Aunt M went back to the hotel. The others stayed at the park for a bit longer and walked around to see some of the animal exhibits. Before we all split up, we planned for most of us to meet at the bus stop at 5:30 to go the Studios to see Fantasmic. The Outlaws would stay to meet M&J (Their plane lands at 5:00 pm )and eat with them. Weather has been beautiful so far, but forecast is for T-Showers Sunday.
Get back to the hotel, kids suit up and head to the Dig Site. Laying back on the chairs, enjoying the sun, snacking on a pretzel and pink lemonade, watching the kids do the water slide over and over, now were on vacation! (at least for 90 minutes) Im glad we got this brief bit of quiet pool time in at the Dig Site before it closed Monday for refurbishment.
At about 4:45 stopped for Dinner at Pepper Market. DW and DD split ½ a rotisserie chicken They said it was very good, DS had his requisite hot dog, and I got the Kung Pao Chicken, good but too spicy for me. Made it to the bus stop, and into Fantasmic by about 6:20. Good seats. SIL husband not getting too much pixie dust. Hes complaining about the extortion pricing of items, and that he wont be back (Its hard for them with the two little ones, more on this later LOL) Now that Ive seen Fantasmic 3 times. I laugh more at the way there is no plot at all, and it moves from scene to scene without much explanation. Great effects though, and all enjoyed it.
On the way back, get a call from The Outlaws and M&J, they went to WL to eat! ( Not to Artist Point though, I think they just snacked at either WCC or the lounge area, they couldnt tell me which)
After arriving back at CSR, everyones pretty much out of gas and ready for sleep. Tomorrows open for everyone, but we do have a PS at 50s Prime Time Café. Should be fun
