Day 12: Look Judith, were on TV
Mickey phoned to wake us up at 7am. Considering we had only had 4 hours sleep we both felt remarkably wide awake. I had breakfast in bed, I had placed it on the bedside table when I went to bed 4 hours earlier. Got up, got ready and tried on the days accessories, Tricia shook her head in despair and reckoned Darren would do a runner. Put the accessories back into the carrier bag. Arrived at MGM at 8.45am and found a bench to sit on. At 9.20am I was starting to melt and had no alternative but to put on one of the accessories. When the Browns finally arrived at 9.45am!!! Judith pointed us out to Darren to which he replied, What the **** has she got on her head? She pointed out that it wasnt just going to be me, he did recover from this shock when he realised that we hadnt bought him a beautiful lime green hat with a red flower garland to go on top.
When we first planned this day way back on a freezing cold January evening we decided to make our own t-shirts for the day and as there were 7 of us we opted for being a dwarf. Each person had the following on their t-shirt:
Myself : Happy for obvious reasons.
Ciaron : Grumpy for obvious reasons.
Taylor : Dopey because she wanted to be him.
Melissa: Sneezy because she sneezes a lot.
Tricia : Bashful because he was the easiest to trace and colour.
Darren : Doc because he looked the oldest.
Judith : Sleepy because thats all that was left.
On the back of Ciarons t-shirt we had written, Grumpy by name, Grumpy by nature! he thought this was cool.
Myself and Judith had Dixie Amos on tour, July 2003 written on our backs that is why we opted for lime green hats rather than lime green ribbons. The hats, especially with the flowers, were so Veronica.

When we entered the park we got a professional photo taken then went to get a fast pass for Tower of Terror. Then we set off for Who Wants to be a Millionaire. The CMs outside One Mans Dream stared at us as we passed but nothing to the look we got from the CM outside WWTBAM, his face was priceless. The Browns havent done WWTBAM at WDW so Judith didnt pay much attention when I said we would get on the big screen with our beautiful hats. After the floor manager did his spiel I told Judith we should practise for our screen debut. We were flashed up just as we practised our pose. The floor manager asked how we knew we were going to be shown, it must have been female intuition. We didnt get in the hot seat but we didnt care because we had been on TV.
Went to Tower of Terror, stopping to get a fast pass for Rock n Rollercoaster. Darren wasnt going on TOT because his back was till sore and Ciaron didnt want to go on. We tried telling him it couldnt be scary because Tricia was going on but he had lost his trust of Tricia after Big Thunder Mountain last night. We left Darren holding our beautiful hats, I did get a photo but he would kill me if I shared it here, and we went to ride. The ride was a scream, literally. Melissa doesnt like drops, Taylor looked anxious and Judith was petrified. When the ride dropped Judith wrapped herself around my arm. I gently removed her and reassured her she would be fine. The photo was very funny, me and Tricia looked like we were sitting on a bus, Judiths arm looked minging, it looked like the skin had gone and you could see bone. Taylor bought the photo to prove she had been on.
When we got off Tower of Terror it was 12noon and we started to walk over to Prime Time Café for our 12.30pm reservation. We stopped at the Christmas shop first and the CM told us how much she loved our t-shirts, she commented on how cute Ciaron was and he couldnt possibly be Grumpy, we all laughed and asked if she wanted him.
Got to Prime Time Café at 12.10pm and opened the door to go in only to be screamed at to close the door as we were letting all the heat in. We told the CM at the desk we had a reservation for 12.30pm, she seemed surprised we were early. She asked the name and we replied Geddes (remember we are being Veronica for the day). She couldnt find Geddes and asked what the first name was to which both me and Judith burst out laughing (it was one of those you had to be there moments). Once composed we replied Veronica and she found our reservation. We had only been waiting 5 minutes when we heard the call for the Gerdeees party of 7. We thought that might be us and went to ask, we asked what the first name was and they said V, possibly for Victor so we checked it was a party of 7, it was. We figured we must be the Victor Gerdeees party of 7 and took our seats. Our server was Auntie Claire, the one who was screaming at everyone about letting the heat in when she had the air conditioning on!
She took our order starting with Taylor, then Melissa, then me. After I spoke he asked if she had the luck of the Irish with her to which we all smiled and replied no. She looked at us with a help me out here face and asked where we were from. She seemed excited when we said Scotland and said, Oh! Thats nice when we said Darren was from England.
When she went to get our drinks we all sprawled across the table which got us into trouble when she returned. We set the table but were a set of cutlery short and when Judith asked if we could have another set Auntie Claire screeched, Sure you can, just as soon as you get your elbows of the table. We lost count how many time Judith was told this, it was so funny. Auntie Claire renamed Darren Skippy but no-one can remember how this came about. She had Ciaron eating out of the palm of her hand, he did not know how to take her at all. Taylor got a round of applause for being the first to have any empty plate. Tricias empty plate was held up for everyone to see because she had made a flower with her tongue marks. Judiths was held up too, she had made a figure of 8. She tried feeding Melissa her green beans but she wouldnt take any as she wasnt feeling well. She didnt try to feed me my remaining green beans but she did see me gag on them when she was trying to feed Melissa. She told Skippy not to look so scared she didnt expect him to eat his chicken bones. I must add also that Skippy looked adorable in his Little Mermaid bib, the kids thought this was hilarious.
When Claire offered us dessert we told her we couldnt manage one each as we were full and asked if we could share. She said that wasnt a problem and brought us a banana split and seven spoons. (I can just see this happening in Scotland, NOT) . Melissa didnt want any dessert, Taylor didnt seem to notice it and Ciaron couldnt have any because of his food allergies so it was just us 4 adults eating and fighting over the strawberries. We didnt finish it but what we did eat was good.
At the table behind us was a couple, also from Scotland. The lady hates green beans and refused point blank to try them so everyone had to point at her and shout SHAME SHAME SHAME. She ordered dessert and when it arrived and she put the spoon in she discovered the dessert was on top of the green beans. I have never laughed so much, it was brilliant. I had never eaten here before and would highly recommend it, it was brilliant and Auntie Claire was fantastic. We decided this would be the perfect job for me.
We left Prime Time Café and myself and Judith went straight to ride Rock n Rollercoaster (good planning eh). Everyone else did the shops. Rock n Rollercoaster was cool, I love the launch. When we came off we went to Star Tours, Ciaron had a Grumpy moment in the queue because it would be scary. He loved it. Then we went to Muppet Vision and I found a Veronica way to wear your 3D spectacles, see picture.
When we came out of Muppets Judith and Darren took the kids over to meet the Toy Story characters while myself and Tricia went to get drinks. Buzz Lightyear stole Judiths hat!!! She got a picture of Buzz wearing the hat but the flowers had fallen off, the scary thing was Buzz looked good in it.
Went to Indiana Jones next and Taylor was upset that Judith wasnt chosen as an extra. She did volunteer but the casting lady couldnt see her when she was so close to the floor. Judith asked me to volunteer with her but I said no because I am shy and besides I dont look 18. Judith choked on her sprite.
Went and sat down for the parade next, it was getting very cloudy. The parade was delayed for 10 minutes but it went ahead. Before the parade started the Hollywood characters passed us in a car and stopped to ask where we had got our beautiful hats. When Mary Poppins passed during the parade she pointed to us and shouted ,Bert, Bert, look at the hats, look at the hats! Chip or Dale not sure which one it was stopped in front of me and flipped the hat and made hysterical laughter gestures. He did this twice, it was hilarious. Snow White called over that she liked our hats.
After the parade Tricia and I were going back to the resort to get the insect repellent. We had been in Florida for 10 days and Tricia, the insect magnet, hadnt had any bites so far and we didnt want to risk getting any. Taylor asked to come with us and Tricia being the clever person asked for Taylors ticket so we could get her back into the park. We arranged to meet up again at 7.15pm. After we left Taylor pointed out that she was the only one in her family who had a watch on, so there you have it, 7 of us in group split into two groups,a group of 3 and a group of 4, the group of 3 have 3 watches the group of 4 have none.
Gave Taylor a whirlwind tour of the Caribbean Beach and she finished our Pringles. When we returned to MGM we found the others really quickly, they had managed to do nothing while we were away. Melissa wanted to do the Backlot Tour so we went there, its changed since I last seen it, it was good. When we got to the lines for the tram they told two to go in the second row, 5 in the front. I went to the second row and Ciaron followed me. I tried to get him to go in the tram first, finally talked him into it but he noticed the seat was wet and refused to sit in it. He got wet in the end though. When we got into the Catastrophe Canyon part the driver said to hold on to valuables so I put my arm round Ciaron and told him I would hold onto him because he was valuable. He smiled and said he would hold onto me because I was valuable, he did, he held onto me in a death grip. He enjoyed this ride and wanted to do it again but it was closed for the night.
Headed down to Tower of Terror area where we all got something to eat. Myself, Tricia and Melissa were going to go on Tower of Terror again, Judith refused to join us said she is too old to do rides at night. Yeah, whatever. This time the lift went up first rather than dropping and Melissa agreed with us that this is better. When we came off and returned to the others we were greeted with huge smiles. Ciaron had fallen asleep!!!!!!
Judith had to carry him up the hill to Fantasmic, when we got to the top of the hill and we were waiting to go I reminded Judith of how she said she was too old to do rides at night and told her she looked old now. Ciaron woke up as soon as we sat down.
After Fantasmic we went on our merry way wishing each other an enjoyable time for the rest of our holidays and said we would phone when Judith got home.
A brilliant day, lost count of how many CMs commented on our beautiful hats. Went to bed at midnight after setting a wake up call 6.30am for the morning, its early entry at the Magic Kingdom.
