Epcot

Ok. It’s 8.40am and I’ve just finished writing up yesterday’s notes. No-on else is even stirring yet – COME ON!!! We’ll miss everything!!

We got to Epcot at about 10. By the time we’d sorted out lockers it was 10.30. Why can’t you get breakfast items after 10.30 in Epcot?? We went to the Electric Umbrella – Gianni had cheeseburger, Gabs a vegetarian burger, Enz & I had a fruit cup each and he also had a beef & cheese roll – I tried a little bit of the roll – very yummy!

We went through both Innoventions, got Fastpasses for Test Track – return time 3.30 – 4.30!!! Had a wander in the Land and Gianni made cookies at the Junior Chef. The cookie mixture was taken to the magic Disney oven and cookies reappeared in bags for each child in double quick time! Must get myself one of those ovens :teeth:

We’ve always started World Showcase later in the afternoon, in Mexico and wilted by the time we’ve arrived in England. So change of tactic this year – we started in Canada, earlier on in the day and worked our way round. It made a nice change to do this in the day – we saw things we don’t normally see.

In England we stopped to watch ‘The British Invasion’. For those who haven’t seen it before, it’s a Covent Gardens type of show with 3 performers putting on a King Arthur & the Holy Grail Show. Three ‘volunteers’ were chosen from the crowd. Now the performers are very good at this. One minute they’re talking and one mentions King Arthur and the next a crown appears as if by magic on a spectators head – there you have the King. A similar thing happens with Sir Lancelot. And then Pelham is mentioned. Now Pelham is an old hag who can transform herself into a beauty and as we’re being told this all of a sudden guess who gets a shawl thrown across her shoulders? Yep, yours truly!! I didn’t half feel a prat

Enz couldn’t wait to get the video camera out! I was in such a daze! I was standing behind one of the performers who said ‘and Pelham took the cup’ – having now watched the video I realise he said this quite a few times but I was so dazed I didn’t realise lol Eventually I DID take it and on with the show!

When the show was over and my shaking and embarrassment had died down, we carried on with our World Tour. We tried a few tasters of food from the Food & Wine Festival carts. In France Enz & I shared snails on garlic bread; Gianni had a ham & cheese crepe. Australia – Jumbo shrimp; beef in BBQ sauce. India – vegetarian curry for Gabs. And somewhere around France Enz bought us both a glass of champagne each – went straight to my head so I had to sit down and rest in Morocco while the kids coloured in their masks!

The children spent a lot of time in each country at the Kidcot stops & I was quite surprised when they both announced that they’d enjoyed the day. I thought they’d find it boring because of the lack of rides that they did – none in the end! Gianni has since told me that Epcot was his favourite park! Although he loves MK for Philharmagic.

We didn’t get back to Futureworld until 6pm so needless to say we missed our F P time for Test Track!

We hadn’t had a proper lunch so were starving by now – I had a splitting headache as a result, not good in the ridiculous heat.

We went downstairs in the Land for food. Enz had spaghetti & meatballs; Gianni – Mac n Cheese; Gabs - tuna sub and I had a ridiculously big vegetable wrap which was rather tasteless.

Back at the resort I had a bit of a nap and some pills. Enz nippied off to the gift shop and to fill my mug with coffee. He came back with chocolate! He bought me a bar of Almond Hershey – I know a lot of people don’t like the stuff but I do  All I need now is some of the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and my holiday will be complete ;)

We drove to Downtown Disney West Side and ate at Wolfgang Puck’s café. The children shared a cheese & tomato pizz. Enz & I shared a Chinois salad (soooo tasty) and an Italian sausage pizza. $38 including a beer and soft drinks.

After a little wander through Hoy Poloi – my fave shop, and the Magnet Shop – Gianni’s fave, it was getting on for 11 o’clock and time for bed.

Tomorrow – MGM.

We too start at Mexico and wilt half way round so, this year, we will try your tactic :)

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

Why is that most of us automatically start at Mexico and then rush through from France until the end? This year we are always planning to start at Canada as I have heard that this is really good.
Great report. I'll have to check out the cookie making. What age can be kids to do this and where abouts is it?

We have always started off in Canada and worked our way round, weird.

I hate Herseys, bought some chocolate kisses at the airport for the 'plane home. I won't say what my DH said they tasted off but they were binned.

I am not a great fan of Epcot's World Showcase, we did stroll round though, we prefer the other side of the park.

Thanks for writing your report. :)

Clare, DS was 6 the 1st time he did this but there were children there that were quite a bit younger. It's a lovely, cute way to have a rest and get out of the sun :)
