Our flight out of Wichita, KS was supposed to be at 6:45 am so we were up by 4:00. Way too early but couldn't sleep anyway. Pouring rain on the way to the airport and our luggage was in my step dad's pickup so we covered it with multiple tarps to keep it dry. He had the only vehicle with enough room for all our luggage (headed for Disney cruise after parks so tons of clothes).
Our flight was a small commuter to Houston where we were then supposed to get a flight to Orlando. (Continental Airlines) There were only 35 seats available on this small plane and we were guests number 35, 36, 37, and 38. Since only one of us had a seat we all were bumped. I had called the airline a few days before and was assured everything was ok. Talked to Disney and our TA and they both blamed each other. I think it was Disney since they were the one booking our flights.
They then rushed us to a United flight that was going to Chicago and then a connecting flight to Orlando. I was putting on the sad face
and they gave us vouchers of $250. each. That flight was supposed to leave at 7:20 and we got on at 7:10. After sitting on the plane for an hour they informed us that the mechanical problems that they were having could not be fixed. They thought that the plane may have been hit by lightning earlier in the morning.
They they booked us on a 11:55 flight to St. Louis with TWA. I told them we hadn't eaten any thing yet that morning because we thought we would have breakfast on the airplane. They gave us food vouchers for the airport venders worth $32.00. Of course the rain decided to really pour at about 11:00 so that flight could not come in and land so we were not able to leave until about 12:30.
Finally got to Orlando by 6:00. They did put us in First Class all the way so that was nice.
Got a shuttle to the Beach Club from Mears. Thought maybe we would get special treatment since we were coming in later than planned and was hoping they would compensate with a limo or something. Ha-Ha, I was foolish. We were informed to wait for a shuttle since they run every 20 minutes. We did wait about 15 minutes.
Got our e-night tickets and took a bus to MK. I was worried about the bus system but it was great. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus. Getting dropped off at the entrace was great.
The park was extremely crowded and hot at 7:00 but by closing it had cooled down some and the crowds were gone. We rode splash mountain twice and saw the fireworks from it. Absolutely beautiful!
Did everything we could and left the park at midnight. Totally exhausted but didn't go to bed until 1:30. I wanted to unpack and make sure everything was ready for the next morning which was EE at MGM.
Next day: Beach Club and MGM
