First Full Day at Sea
Woke up this morning and went to get some breakfast at Topsiders since we figured it was easier than sitting in the dining room with our 5 year old.
We got up to deck 9 and honestly I felt just like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. The winds were gale force blowing about 40 mph *heard a crew member say that number* and the motion of the ship was nauseating. We have been to the Eastern Caribbean once before and remembered the winds that blow through that area but we assumed they would stop soon *once again we were wrong*.
The kids ate at Topsiders while hubby and I nibbled on fruit since we had been invited by some Dis board members *Hi Alice, Tracey, Travis and Jason* to brunch at Palo. We informed the kids even before we left for this trip that if we had Palo reservations they would HAVE to go to the clubs.
Our oldest loved going so she was easy to drop off but our boys they were another story. Hubby took the 5 year old to his club and he was already upset but hubby showed him the pager and told him that he could have us paged if he really needed us. Meanwhile I set out with our 9 year old up to the Sports Deck for fun and games on the basketball court. We were a little early and the kids were in transition to the sports deck so we had to wait in the wind. We had to hold on up there it was blowing so hard. I couldnt believe the kids could even do anything up there. Just as it was time to check him into the activity hubby came up to see what was going on. Got him checked in about 10:30 and decided to go down to the cabin to get ready for Brunch and then take some pictures around the ship.
We got back into the cabin and I looked down at hubbys belt loop and NO PAGER in the clip! I almost had heart failure. We quickly got ready and went to see if the pager had fallen out on the steps while hubby was trying to quickly traverse the stairs to the sports deck. NO LUCK! They told us when registering that it would cost $150.00 if we lost it. We reported it to the Club and they basically told us theyd keep sending a message to it every 30 min and hope that someone turned it in. They didnt offer another pager or anything so by now I was a wreck thinking if the kids needed us they wouldnt be able to get a hold of us. After a very trying 45 min the pager was turned in at Guest Services and we got it back and all was well and good again.
Went up to the Brunch and it was awesome! The food in Palo was so good!!! Had a great time with the gang but of course the boys paged us several times to come and get them. We ended up bribing them to stay and then we promised we would take them to the shops to buy a toy if they didnt page us again.
Finished the yummy brunch and went to get the boys out of their clubs. We were going to go swimming so we got our oldest and set off for the pools. HOLY NIGHTMARE! The pools were SO crowded and the wind was blowing so bad that the kids were cold after about 10 minutes. Decided that theyd had enough so we went back to our rooms to chill out and let the kids watch a little television before it was time to get ready for dinner *again*.
Tonight was our night in Animators Palate and I just LOVE that show! I could watch it both nights and never tire of it. While sitting at dinner our 5 year old starts crying and tells us his throat hurts. Well this was the start of a crummy few days but we had no idea how crummy it was going to turn out.
Tonight was the Golden Mickeys and the motion after eating dinner was making me and dd very ill. The show was AWESOME! Disney does their shows right that is for sure! Really enjoyed it and the kids were talking about it all the way back to the rooms.
Hubby and I really wanted to go to Rockin Bar D on Beat Street to see the adult version of the Ventriloquist. The kids wanted to stay in the cabin and watch tv and our youngest still was complaining about his sore throat so I wouldnt have put him in the club anyway so I ran to the stores and bought a ridiculously priced bottle of Tylenol Cold and Cough and we then proceeded to put them in their beds and told them wed come back up in 10 min to check on them and also told DD if she needed us she could take the elevator down to 3 and we would be sitting near the door.
We went down to deck 3 on the forward elevators which were hardly ever busy and sat down for the show. 10 minutes later I went up to check on them and they were all snoring and sleeping well so I went back downstairs. 15 minutes later hubby went to check on them and they were still out so we decided to stay to see a little of the 60s party. About 20 minutes later we decided to call it a night and set off for our cabin. We got to the door and found our 2 oldest kids bawling. Our dd was extremely motion sick (and Id given her Meclizine for 3 days as well) and our ds said his head was killing him. After giving him some medicine and putting our dd on the balcony for about 10 min they went to sleep and so did we since our character breakfast was in the morning.
