4/7/02

Because my sister was flying in the day that Sandy was leaving (9th) we had to take 2 vehicles. Sandy followed me to Orlando from Naples. Nice weather, beautiful actually. Boring trip though for both of us (won’t do that again). Coming into Orlando, a cushion fell out of my pick-up and Sandy ran over it LOL, didn’t bother stopping, too dangerous on I-4.

Arrived at BWV around 2, valet parked for free and tipped 5.00 ( I told them I was DVC, which was a little stretch, because I was renting pts), checked in to a standard one bedroom, initially, room 2109 overlooking the bus pick-up area. I loved the amenities, especially the safe, the ironing board, and the stocked kitchen. If you are fussy about hair dryers as I am….you’ll want to bring your own….I was glad I did as their’s was definitely not powerful enough. We put away the perishables, freshened up and off we went to Studios (via boat).

We did ToT and Sandy loved it….(loved the improvements since she had been 3yrs ago). We did RnR next and while we were waiting to get off,,,she looked a little upset, thought it was the ride, but then told me one of her gold earrings (sentinmental) fell off on the ride right after it started. As we stood up to leave, there it was on the floor! Imagine all those upside down turns, and it was still there! Must have been the centrifugal force that kept it inside, what a relief. We watched a street show and I bought my first pin lanyard in a shop there with a few pins. We then went to the lounge connected to the prime time café and had a drink at the bar. We met a nice couple, Renee and Fred and we chatted with them while waiting for the parade. Then it was the “stars and cars parade”….I just loved that! The music was great and all the characters too! The best part was I had just bought a Chip n Dale pin and when Chip came by, I pointed to it and he came over during the parade to give me a hug J.

Next we scooted over to Epcot…Sandy only had 2 nites so we wanted to do a lot in a little time…and did Spaceship Earth, and the boat ride in Mexico. We then went to Canada to see if they could squeeze us in…and they gave us a pager. We had a drink at the Rose and Crown while waiting, and as soon as we were done, the pager went off and we scooted back to Canada. Now I had heard a lot about Le Cellier, and it was every bit as good as they said! The special that night was surf n turf…so being that I don’t like to eat a lot while doing parks, we decided to share it ($33.00). She had the stuffed lobster tail which she loved, and I had the filet and it was AWESOME! I asked for extra Bernnaise and it was divine! Of course we filled up on those wonder pretzel breadsticks first. But the meal was A++++ and even the potatoes (oven roasted) were out of this world good! It came to 70 plus with 4 drinks so I left a c-note and off we went.

Now this is where I tell you about the real “magic” that I experienced for the first time (maybe it was enhanced by the 3 drinks, LOL) When we left Canada and strolled up toward the front entrance….we rounded a bend and there it was! The dancing water fountains started up,,,as though it was solely for us….and the band music started and I have to tell you, it gave me goose bumps! That music, it was like it waited for us to start, and it was so magical I cant explain it. It was the VERY first time I felt that way at WDW.

We headed for the gate and found that we couldn’t take a bus to downtown Disney, so we grabbed a cab (can only catch the bus at the resorts). It was 13.75 for the fare so we gave him a twenty and he seemed really surprised when I told him to keep the change. We strolled around DD deciding where to park our weary bones (one club actually smelled like urine, believe it or not, so we kept on going) ,,,when we happened upon a place called “Live Music”. It was a Jazz place featuring Elliot Dyson. It was so clean and comfortable and the a/c was just right. I put my feet up, we ordered drinks, and just enjoyed the music thoroughly! Elliot welcomed us when we came in btw and came over to our table during break. I looked over to an adjacent table and who was sitting there, but Renee and Fred! We invited them over to our table and we just had the greatest time! We bought Elliot’s cd and invited him to come to Marco Island play in a jazz club there J

I must tell you that I got blisters (bottom of my feet),,,,the shoes I had on had never given me trouble, but I realized that I hadn’t ever worn them that long. It can really ruin your stay to get blisters the first day, so be careful what you bring for footwear! We stayed there relaxing for hours, and Sandy actually got up and did a little birthday dance (recent bday) around the club to everyones delight. Don’t worry, she wasn’t in her birthday suit! I took pictures to show her hubby, LOL. We stayed till one a.m. and got a taxi back to BWV. I plopped on the sofa (let Sandy have the king bed) and didn’t wake up till hubby called (at 7 am ,,,grrrrrrr) to see how I was doing. We are early risers normally, but I gently reminded him that I was not going to be getting up too early and don’t call us, we’ll call you! J

Stay tuned for day 2! Coming soon to a message board near you! Mae :)

What a fun trip! Thanks for sharing! I really want to take a girls trip one of these days!

Taxis are wonderful, aren't they, especially after you've had a few drinks and don't want to navigate the bus system! DH and I found that out last month.

Looking forward to reading more.
