Day 3 was a very long day- in more ways than one. It started out good, went ugly real fast and then got good again. We didn't tell DD what her surprise was until right before, so I'm not gonna tell you either!
You'll just have to wait- just like she did!
Today was our first Magic Kingdom day!! Hurray! We got up early because I wanted to take Davy to the Harmony Barbershop for his very first haircut! I had this planned out for months, and it didn't quite go as planned. <sigh>
We got to the MK right after rope drop- I wanted to be there FOR rope drop, but my family is pokey. But either way, we were there.
We headed straight for the barbershop- to wait in line for what seemed like forever. It was already very hot and the line moved very slowly. The kids were kinda whiny and who could blame them?
There was no room inside to sit- the place is tiny!! And people were crammed in like sardines already, so I told DH and DD to go do whatever on Main St so they wouldn't have to wait with us. This is who they met:
Finally it was Davy's turn! (Aleks wanted to do Pixie Dust, but I told her she would have to shower as soon as we got back to the resort or no swimming and she quickly changed her mind. lol)
We asked Nana to video taped the moment, so I could take pics and Daddy could stay with Davy, holding his hand. She agreed. About halfway through Davy's haircut, she fell over the floor mat and hit the ground!
We helped Nana up, but she said she hurt her ankle. The employees apparently had no idea what to do, so they told her the first aid place was around the corner..... how helpful.
She didn't want to ruin Davy's moment, so she hobbled down there unassisted. I felt bad for her, but she knew I didn't want to miss Davy's first haircut. I will update on Nana's condition after Davy's haircut pics.
First the barber covered him in Mickey Mouse stickers!
Then the cutting began. He doesn't look to shaggy here, but that's because his hair was all stuck to his head with sweat. Yucky!
I love the sticker on his toe here- I dunno, it just tickles me!
Look how attentive his Daddy is here- awww.... never left his side!
You can see him in the corner. He earned his ears!! He also got a certificate of bravery and I got some of his hair. It was a great deal too- about $20 with tip!
As for Nana- we went down to the first aid station, where she was sitting with ice on her foot. It was swelling quite nicely too, I might add.
Poor Nana. They took her to some crappy "quick care" place where she sat for a couple of hours. We stayed at the park, as she told us to, rather than waiting around with her- but more on that later. They refused to take her to the emergency room which is where she requested to be taken. So after hours of waiting, they told her she indeed broke her foot and could not put any pressure on it!
Grrr.... They did bring her back to the resort, but she fell out the van when the jacka** driver didn't help her out of it! She almost broke something else that time.... I got her a wheel chair at the resort and took her back to the room. We left again for Aleks' surprise, Nana stayed behind and went through her personal h-e- double hockey sticks of a night. They had given her a prescription and the pharmacy was delivering it to the resort, but when it got to the front desk- they refused to bring it to her! She had called and asked if it had been dropped off and the desk person replied, "Yes- come get it."
She told them she could not, as her foot was broken that morning at the Magic Kingdom- they looked up our room number in the computer and said, "well, it shows that there are 2 other adults in your room- send one of them down to get it for you."
WTH?!?! Disney magic my butt!! Needless to say, my dearest mommy gave him an earful and a half and told him to find someone to deliver it and now please- because she didn't make us stay in the room with her and ruin the kids vacation!! My mommy can be very, uhhhh.... persuasive- yeah, persuasive, when she gets angry. She got her meds and took them, but that was not the end of her night- oh no!
The fire alarm in our room, and our room only, kept going off! She was freaking out!! She kept calling me asking what she should do? She couldn't walk and was afraid the place was on fire. She said the front desk wouldn't answer and she knew they wouldn't come get her anyway. (BTW- she really bites at getting around on crutches...) All this was while we were at Aleks' surprise night. Kinda ruined parts of it... (I was crying at one point as she was yelling at me like it was my fault- while we were waiting in line of all place) she was supposed to be there and couldn't and now all this too. Eventually, the front desk answered and told her not to worry, it was just a faulty fire alarm and someone would soon fix it. They didn't say she would have to wait an hour, but.... and it kept going on and off the entire wait- and that thing is LOUD! Anyway- it was fixed and she finally went to bed.
And yes, she apologized for yelling at me when we got back. She was just very upset and I can understand that, but I couldn't really help her from a park could I? It would have taken me over an hour to get from the park back to our room at the resort and by that point, it would have been too late anyway. Lovely night, huh?
And guess what? She never even turned the camera on!!!
So I didn't get any of his first haircut on tape. She was backing up instead of using the zoom on the camera and now I know why- it wasn't on!!! So not only did I loose that great moment in history- I lost our chance at winning America's Funniest Home Videos too! And yes, I gave her a lesson on how to use it before this moment.
Ok... next installment will be what we did while Nana was having her foot x-rayed and Aleks' big surprise!
