YES! 4 years ago my husband and I took Crown Financial at our church. It changed our lives. We paid off all consumer debt (cars and students loans), and built up a 6 month savings emergency fund as well as continued to fully fund our retirement accounts.
Right now we owe on our mortgage and I wish we didn't even owe on that!
We live with CASH ONLY.
Come join us over at LLNOE.com for a free Dave Ramsey followers forum. We are all *weird!*

Doing the program, did it take 4 years to pay off all your loans AND make an emergency fund??
The only debt we have right now is Student loans (30,000) and our Mortgage which we've only had for 3 months...wondering if Dave Ramsey is worth it for us since we have no credit card debt or car payments...what do you suggest?? Thanks!
No. It took about 2 years and I forgot to add that we also adopted a child and had some debt there as well.
We owed about $20K in student loans, about $20K in car loans, and funded the adoption. We had 10K for that saved, so we borrowed about 10K. So, $50K total in loans.
We have saved around $30K in an emergency fund and would like to get it up higher, but we also refinanced to a 15 year loan last year and our payments on our house are much higher than we really feel comfortable paying (we would love to sell and downsize and if we had started the program earlier we would have purchased a less expensive house.)

I did not go thru FP but have read his books and watched his show for quite awhile (in addition to a few other financial experts, like Suze Orman.) We paid our student loans off very quickly using those principles, and we should have our mortgage paid off in about 4 years (we've had it for 7), and we have never, in 12 years of marriage, paid one cent in interest on a credit card. Reading and watching things like this keep us motivated to keep going on our track, even when family and friends make fun of us for not buying things until we have the cash. So I don't know that I would spend the money on the class, but definitely get the books (from the library, LOL), and hopefully it'll help you to get out of the student loans and mortgage much quicker!
Wow! You folks did GREAT!!! Very inspiring I must say!! Perhaps I'll tell my DH to look into it with me!![]()
