Hello Everyone. Welcome to my planning report. As you'll note from the title, I know very little about my wedding but I am eager to start a planning report anyhow because I am so very excited. First...a little about us.
How we met:
Dave and I met about 10 years ago. We were with other people at the time and all of us became friends. When our other relationships fell apart we lost contact. We ran into each other at a party a year later and saw each other in a new light. It was quick and intense but ultimately bad timing. But two years later, out of the blue, he found me on a dating website and we started talking again. Things got serious really fast and within a couple months we were both sure we'd finally found the one. We booked our trip to WDW within three months. We work so well together that right now we are waiting to hear back about a job innkeeping together.
The Proposal:
So, just days after our 6 month anniversary and only a couple days before Valentines day we flew to WDW. This was his very first trip to WDW and I was anxious to see if Disney would be as magical for him as it has been for me since I was a little girl. He totally fell in love with the Magic Kingdom. We acted like kids all day. I did things that I hadn't done since I was little like get pictures with characters. When we went to get our matching ears monagramed, the CM gave us "Happily Ever After" buttons and Dave was very excited by this. Another CM asked if we'd gotten married. At this point I was just so happy that nothing could have surpassed the way i was feeling. i told the CM, "No, we're just happy." At the end of the night we found a cramped little spot to the right of the castle and wedged ourselves in to watch Wishes. When Jiminy says "sometimes your wishes are granted in the most unexpected ways" Dave squeezed my arm and I got all teary. At the end of the fireworks I looked at Dave and he had this bizare grin on his face. I hugged him a couple times and he looked like he wanted to say something. Now keep in mind we were right next to the speakers that were still blaring the end of Wishes music. I looked at him and he said "Will you marry me?" Of course, that's what I thought he said. In my head I'm thinking. "oh my god, did he just ask me to marry him, I couldn't hear him!" But I decided that instead of ruining the moment by asking him to repeat the question I just hugged him and said yes into his ear, then started to cry. Later he told me he never actually heard the "yes" either =P He also told me later that he had been planning to ask me for months, but wanted to do it on Valentines day. But the excitement and magic of the Magic Kingdom had gotten to him and he couldn't wait!
Knowing that I am particular about my jewelry he didn't get me a ring but after being asked by innumerable CM's about the ring(because of our "Just Engaged" buttons) we went into a store at DHS and bought a mickey ring with a Swarovski crystal and hearts around it. I love my ring. Though I must admit I'm looking forward to seeing some sparkle on my finger soon. It turns out that Dave is in love with Disney. And though we are an unlikely pair, I beleive I am in love for the first time in my life.
So, we came back from Disney about two weeks ago and wedding planning is all I want to talk about. Unfortunately neither my mother nor my DF will speak to me about it because I am in the last push to graduate on May 1st. DF has flat-out refused to discuss it with me till I've graduated. I have two girlfriends who are willing to discuss things with me, but without a date or place there is nothing that can be decided. So far, we've decided that a Disney wedding is what we want, but sadly can't afford. My father is unable to travel for a wedding, so that's another factor. Another factor is the fact that the majority of our friends and family would not be able to afford the trip to WDW for our wedding either. So it looks like the plan is a wedding at home followed by a honeymoon in WDW and we will invite anyone to come with us because we really want our friends and family to come play at Disney with us. Dave also mentioned wanting his groomsmen to wear Mickey gloves and we did talk about a Disney themed wedding, so I've got a Black/White/Red Mickey theme flowring in my head.
I hope you all have enjoyed my inroduction and my few pictures. I'm looking forward to the planning process!
