Daughter wanted to stay at ASMovies instead of CSR

Well my 16-year-old daughter really wanted to stay at ASMovies in January rather than at CSR, so I switched us. What is wrong with her? Lol. Hope it will be a good ,move on my part. I booked a preferred room.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but what is wrong with you lol
i would never switch from any mod to an AS.
There are some benefits though, cheaper and smaller for example but I would have stayed with CSR and think she would have liked it too.

We did, however, stay at ASMusic once, and while we were not in a big hurry to rush back, we didn't have any problems with it either. And now, in fact, that they have renovated the family suites there, I'm kind of on the fence about perhaps giving one of those suites a go in the future because I love the larger fridge and the big kitchenette area. :)

I'm quoting myself to add a few more particulars.....when we stayed at ASMusic it was during a time when all 3 resorts shared buses, and that is not always the case now at all. So, we tended to wait longer for a bus there than at the moderates. HOWEVER, the walk back to our room once we were dropped off was much shorter for us at AS, and we didn't even have a preferred room. The walk back to our room at the moderates often has often felt very long at the end of the day.

Also,I've always felt that a standard room in any given resort is never worth the price we pay to stay in the bubble. It's all about the amenities, BUT, except for maybe a half day here or there, we never even utilize most of the amenities ourselves. So, if you're also the type to spend the vast majority of your time at the parks, then it may not even make much difference to you if you're at an AS or a moderate.

Hope you both have a great time! :)

But would you stay at a hotel that you dislike and are uncomfortable in just because your child likes it? Even though they would be just as happy at a hotel that you picked?
We are totally happy and comfortable staying at any of WDW resorts (as you can see from my signature with resorts) and we have yet to really dislike (to where I would not stay) any WDW resort. DW and I have veto power but like I said its mainly based on what we want to spend.

You will have a great time. We stayed there the first time because we were in FL and just needed a one night stay and they had a good price. We really liked it. I since have gone back for a 3 day stay and it was a lot of fun.

I would enjoy the trip with your daughter and take the money you save and put it towards another trip!!! We have friends who will only stay at POP. They refuse to look elsewhere. We personally do not care for the values but I we have stayed at them several times as our girls love them. It must be a kid thing!!!! Have a great trip.

I am still back and forth between CSR and ASM, lol. Its fine. We could end up who knows where by January. But now her father is going too, so it will most likely be at CSR. We will just get her over to ASM for her pictures.

We stayed at ASM last time we were at WDW. It was NYE 2017-18. Crazy busy and it was the only resort we could book. Turns out it was a very enjoyable stay. With a preferred room you could be placed in Toy Story land. We liked it because it was quieter and not a bad walk to the main building. We stayed in "Buzz Lightyears Armpit". Pic below is from just outside our room door.....Buzz.jpg

My kids love ASM and pop but I think its because of theming. We once did a split stay and we stayed at the Coranado and the kids looked at no difference than any other hotel. ... boring lol
We once was upgraded to AOA my boys we less than impressed to be in a little mermaid room.

Even at Disney as adults, if my parents are footing the bill, they make the resort selection.

We're clearly the weird group - in many things.

My parents own DVC. My family & I have been on 2 WDW trips with them on their points. We stayed at Boardwalk as we all agreed we like the location. We are going again next year and when we started discussing hotels I asked if they were interested in staying in their home resort BLT to try it out. They said Sure! So my dad booked BLT last week and we will be there in June 2022 at my suggestion.
