For the first time, we will have someone using our points without us being there. We've taken family several times, but we've always been there too! In April, our daughter (23) is using our points for five nights and taking a friend or two. When I was making the reservation online, it asked if she was a member. Well the contracts are in my name & my husband's name, but I assume she can't receive any perks like dining & shopping discounts & top of the world access unless we are there with her? Her address is the same as ours, but I guess without a member card in her name, she is out of luck?

Is there anything else we haven't thought about that she will miss out on?

The pass discount is open to her but might be more difficult to get if you are not there. I'd send your card just in case if she needs that but she shouldn't expect any of the member specific discounts, options.

This has come up before. We bought into DVC in 1995. At that time, I am 100% sure we were told that we were ALL members. The whole family. My kids were minors living at home then, so I did not worry about it.

But it has changed over the years, to only the names on the card. I understand it, of course, just a (MINOR) disappointment when my daughter (who lives at home) goes to WDW without Mom and Dad. (she is there now!) I do know some families have made the decision to add the adult kids names to the membership, so they get their own cards. (for various reasons)
