Friday was a bittersweet day.

The sweet news: We went to Kimmi's ultrasound. It was so cool. I'd never seen one before, amazing!!! And, it's a girl!!! I don't know why I wanted a girl so bad (besides hating her boy name, Maverick), but I really did. Her girl names, at the moment, are Abigail Grace, Alyssa Kelli and Delaney ?. Her due date is 12/17/04. I am finally excited.

Now the bitter news. My husband's dad was diagnosed with colon cancer on Friday. They think they caught it early. He's having a cat scan Wed and meeting with the surgeon after that. We'll know more then about how far it's progressed. It's been two years since his last check up. He was going in yearly to check his prostate because prostate cancer runs in his family. Last year the urologist said he's had clean scans lately, so he can skip it and just get a colonoscopy next year. He had that on Friday and they found cancer.

I'll keep you posted on what's going on with him. His name's Jack.

That is bittersweet. Congratulations on Baby Girl.:D Prayers for a healthy baby.

Prayers and pixie dust for your FIL as well. My cousin had colon cancer. It was caught early and after surgery and chemo, he's been cancer free for over 2 years. I certainly hope your FIL gets the same outcome.

Your FIL will be in my prayers. We were concerned this spring that my mom's colon cancer was back, and it was just so hard!

Now, as a mom of 3 boys....congratulations! I am glad that your DD is doing all right, and that you are too.

Kelli~
Congrats on the news about the baby girl-I'm glad that you're getting excited now:hug:
I have to say that I wouldn't have been crazy about the name Maverick either:D

I'm sorry to hear the news about your FIL:( I hope that the cat scan will give you guys some positive news regarding his treatment options:hug:

Saying a prayer for Jack.:( I hope eveything goes well with him.
Congrats for you on your DD having a girl.::yes:: If it was me though, I would have wanted a grandson.

Big V, I think Steve wanted a boy, we just have girls. But, he said he's happy with anything. And, it's not like this will be our only grandchild. I have two daughters, and they both want at least two children, so we have at least three more chances for a grandson!!!

Thanks for the pd and prayers for my FIL.

Great news about the granddaughter. Congrats.

Prayers for you FIL. If you have to have cancer, colon cancer is the one to have. My dad was diagnosed with colon cancer last year. He had surgery to remove it and has not needed any chemo or radiation. It had been 2 years since he had had a colonscopy, so it sounds like Jack's cancer was caught pretty early. I pray that his treatment goes well and that he will be able to enjoy that great-granddaughter for many years.

Yay for your grandbaby girl! I'm hoping that when the time comes for my boys to have their own children (hopefully many, MANY years away!) that I'll be blessed with a grand daughter since I only had boys!

Sending good thoughts and prayers for your FIL. Colon cancer can be beat, one of my son's teachers had it a few years ago, and she is doing great and is now cancer free!

First of all, Congratulations on the baby girl!!

Sorry to hear about your FIL. We lost my MIL to Colon Cancer, but she waited a year after having symptoms to get checked out. Very sad. Please know that Colon Cancer is cureable if caught early. I pray that your FIL's cancer is in the early stages, and that he will make a full recovery.

Such nice news, Kelli, on your coming grand daughter. Nice.

And good wishes and prayers for Jack, good he had the colonoscopy. My best.

First of all, prayers for Jack and your family. It's good they caught it early so hopefully his prognosis will be good.

Second, congratulations on your upcoming granddaughter!! I, too, have a DD expecting their first child. Her due date is January 30th. She had another doctor visit on July 30th and they got to hear the heartbeat, so exciting!! She's had one ultrasound (we got a copy of the picture, so sweet!) and will be having another late this month and hopefully we will find out if she's having Garrett Joseph or Isabel Joan. :teeth:

Awww, such bittersweet news, reminds me so much of the Circle of Life.

Congrats on your new granddaughter to be tc! :) And my prayers are with your FIL.

Chattyaholic: Kimmi liked Isabelle too, but didn't like the knickname, Issy, so she put that one aside. Isn't it fun preparing for a grandchild? All the fun and none of the pain.

Thanks everyone for the thougts for dad. He's a fighter, so I'm sure he'll get through this.

tc: What a coincidence your DD was thinking about Isabelle too! I like that spelling better, but my DD wants Isabel - at least as of right now, ha ha! They finally changed the boy name, they were leaning toward Gaston and I really don't like that one at all!! They also liked Coleson, but one of DD's co-workers just lost a baby that was named Colton, so she thought it was too close to that name so didn't want to use it out of respect for her.

Yes, it's exciting preparing for a grandchild. We have an 11-year old GDD and 8-year old GS from our DS, but it seems totally different when it's your DD that is having the baby. At least with me, I feel more "involved" with her pregnancy than I did with my DS and DDIL. And since we already have "one of each", I really don't care what this baby is, boy or girl will not matter, we are just praying for a healthy one with all its fingers and toes!! :)
