My daughter broker her elbow and has a cast from her hand to up above her elbow. As far as roller coaster rides, what won't she be able to ride?

I assume that any ride which has an over the shoulder restraint (i.e. Rock n Roller Coaster) are out.

What about Space Mountain, Everest, Big Thunder Mountain or Mine Train?

Does Disney have any rules on riding rides with a cast?

Thanks in advance!

You may be correct about OTSRs - If the cast interferes with the restraint system, it will not be allowed.

Anything where the cast doesn't interfere with the restraint system and/or ride vehicle, she can probably ride if she wants to, but I'd recommend asking her doctor before you leave just to see if they have any restrictions to follow - they might not want her on jerky or bumpy rides.

If the dr clears her I would just see how comfortable she felt holding on with one hand/arm (unless she's an arms in the air girl like me.)

The first time I rode Space Mt back in the 80s, I had an arm cast. TERRIBLE idea.

I would definitely check with her doctor. I was in a cast from my fingertips to between my elbow and shoulder a few years ago, and I would not have felt good at all after any roller coaster ride. The jarring, jerky motion will likely be PAINFUL.

Our daughter went with a broken wrist and she had more trouble walking around because her arm hung down and it got swollen and made her arm throb. Once we got a sling for when she was walking she felt better.

She rode everything and the only thing that bothered her was Everest. When you go backwards she wasn't able to hold herself upright without holding on and it jiggled her arm.

If her cast can't get wet, you may want to bring something to cover it with on Pirates of the Caribbean and Big Thunder Mountain. You get wetter on those rides since the most recent remodels than you used to.

General advice from someone who's been to Disney World with a fracture: if she's taking any kind of pain medication, even if it's as simple as aspirin, I found it was much better to stay on a schedule and stay ahead of the pain than to take it after pain starts. It was really easy to get over-stimulated and not realize I was in pain until it got really bad.

Thanks everyone for the responses. It's basically what my husband and I figured. We will speak to the doc and also avoid the bumpy and herky-jerky stuff.
