My 13 yr old daughter needs prayers/good thoughts for strength and peace. I have been noticing that she has been SO thirsty for the past couple months and weight has just fallen off of her. Well, her blood sugar test came back over 600!
She is so scared of needles and getting blood drawn and I wish I could do that part for her but I can't.
We are just in shock right now. This is a huge adjustment but I know that she is strong and can learn to live with it and take care of herself.
Thanks for reading and letting me vent a little of the fear that I am feeling :flower3:

I am sorry your daughter is dealing with this illness at such a young age.
I shall send her some Koala cuddles:hug: from down under, it must be a shock for your whole family.

Hope things can get resolved soon and she can start to feel better.

:hug:I know that diabetes is a huge life changing thing.
Thankfully, it can be treated and controlled with a strong education and good medical monitoring.
I will keep your DD and your family in my thoughts and hope that she adjusts well and becomes at peace with it and takes good care of herself!

I'm sorry to hear that your daughter is going through something like this at a young age. Children have enough to deal with without having health issues.:grouphug: I'm sure she is a strong young lady though. There are a few adjustments that will have to be made but nothing too severe. I hope she gets the best treatment and adjusts to her new lifestyle well. :goodvibes

I was diagnosed 4 years ago and have rebounded well:rotfl:
I think your daughter will be fine it takes a little time to get the levels under control but im sure she will:yay: Im a chef and this has brought upon a huge challenge for me ( taste testing food) but I know what I can do and not do as will she. She is in my prayers.

Diabetic since I was 6! Your daughter will be fine and will conquer this disease, she will rule it not it rule her!! Good vibes coming her way from me

Heres a hug for you

Ps they have camps for children with diabetes, alot to learn there, you might want to look into so she has friends who "knows where she is coming from"

My DH was also 13 when he was diagnosed and he is now 37 and doing great! He switched to the insulin pump a few years ago (which is what I presume your DD is also on) and it has been a wonderful thing for him! Positive thoughts to you and your DD.....she will be just fine!

I am also sorry to hear she is going through this at a young age.

Hugs and blessings to you all.

I was diagnosed at the age of 16. That was 29 years ago. I've found that the key is not to become complacent. As your daughter grows, assist her in keeping on top of our mutual "pebble in the shoe". As long as she doesn't ignore it and keeps learning (over the years, I've found diabetes Ed is my best assistant) she'll stay on top of it and control the diabetes instead of it controling her.

Best wishes and prayers!
