Dated merchandise?

I just saw the new designs for shirts, pins and everything that is dated 2016. Music is figured prominently in all of them. I love the designs, and really want to get something (or multiple somethings...) -- BUT I'm not planning a trip in 2016 and I feel a little odd getting a memento without the memory.
I know that they do some changes every year, but can anyone tell me if it's at all likely that the same design or catch phrase will still be used in 2017?? I mean so the background would still be the same, but the year would obviously be different?? Or will they really come up with something totally different again?

I think you should just plan a trip to justify the purchase.

I had the same problem with the DL merchandise design for holidays 2016. Loved the design and almost bought something, but in the end, I passed. We did our trip at Halloween time this year.

You sound like the perfect candidate for the Shop Disney Parks app, free on iTunes. I generally don't like dated merchandise, especially clothing. Having said that, I love the 2016 artwork, so I'm getting some stuff. Additionally 2016 marks our first trip with our DGDs, but I'd probably buy several things anyway. There *might* be some merch with the art without the date, will have to browse around.

Thanks Micca. I do have the app. I'm just trying to figure out if I can get the same artwork with the year 2017. I am having a hard time justifying getting something from a year we aren't visiting...

I was there December 5 to 11 and there was no 2015 merchandise left that I saw. A woman in a store at DHS was quite upset that she could not get a Christmas ornament with 2015 on it, they all said 2016.

We visited that week for many years. It's always hit or miss. I finally started ordering the things I want earlier in the year once I knew I was really going.

They change the design from year to year. No guarentee it will be similar especially with all the changes coming in 2016.
