Date of AP Plat renewal when upgraded?

I plan to buy 8 day PH from UT and go to the park on Dec 31. I leave Jan 7. If I upgrade to the DVC Annual Platinum on Jan 6, what will be my expired date? I want to try to go again New Years Week for the following year. Will it be Dec 31, Jan 5 or Jan 6?

If you use the MYW ticket prior to doing the upgrade, the expiration date is supposed to be based on the date you first used the MYW.
If the MYW ticket is unused, the expiration date is supposed to be based on the date you do the upgrade.

Agree that unless something is done incorrectly that the AP expiration date will be the date you first use the ticket so it won't cover your next trip. That's why people plan their trips just less than a year apart if they want to be able to get 2 trips on one AP at similar times of the year.

My daughter just did this. Had a multiday ticket because she was upgrading to the gold AP and it was Easter break. On her last day in the park she upgraded to the gold AP and the expiration was the first day she used her multiday ticket. On a good note, the photos she took all week showed up on her account available since her new AP had the earlier start date. Sorry op, not the outcome you were hoping to hear.
