Hi folks,
We are staying on-site at BWV for the first time in January with our 1-year-old son. Yippee! :woohoo: We are staying for 8 nights, with my mom joining us for the last 4 nights. She wants to hang with us at all times more or less, but we did tell her we expect one night to go out by ourselves while she stays with the baby. That night is January 11. I am disappointed that Fantasmic won't be on that night. However, there is EMH at DHS, which we enjoy, and Illunimations at 9. So here's my question: what would you suggest for a date itinerary? And is Jelly Rolls and/or Music Hall on the BW any good?
Thanks!!
Jen

Gerows,
I see you are also from Mass. and I am curious about your experience being in Disney during 04 World Series - on more than one occasion DH has insisted we take extended playoff-watching breaks at ESPN.
V&A is surely very nice, but I don't want to spend all night in a restaurant.

Being in Disney during the 04 WS was incredible. We were actually living in Knoxville at the time (but both DW and I grew up in MA) and were wearing our Red Sox hats and shirts all week. We would be walking around and people from the other side of the walkway would just yell "Yeah, go Red Sox". We didn't go to ESPN to watch the game, since DS was only 2 1/2 at the time and DW was pregnant with DD. The games are on so late that we would just watch in the hotel room. The day after they won, we were in MK and my MIL called to tell us that she was watching a live interview with Curt Schilling on TV and he was on Main St in MK, so we ran down there and could see him being interviewed up on the train platform. One of the secutirty gaurds told us that Pedro and Papi missed their plane but would be there the next day for a parade. We were supposed to be leaving the next day, but we immediatly called and pushed out our check out date a day. We got to MK early and hung out all day then got a curb seat about 2 hours before the parade. Main Street was so cool. They had Red Sox ballons and banners tied to all the street lamps and hanging from the store fronts. It was just amazing. We had kind of been feeling left out living in TN that year, and not being able to watch all the local TV stuff (we had the Baseball Season pass on Direct TV, but you only get NESN when they show a game), so to be there for the parade was one of the coolest experiences we have ever had, especially when we watched the "Rolling Rally" in Boston on TV and people were sooo far away from the players and we got to stand 5 feet away as they drove by.

For date night, you could try dinner at Cali Grill and time it so you are there for Wishes (they turn down the interior lights so you can see it). Another suggestion would be to just go to Epcot with no agenda what so ever, and grab a couple of drinks and some kiosk food and just walk around and do some people watching. I love Epcot at night. It kind of feels like your walking around in a city with all the food and people, plus without an agenda you won't feel the pressure of having to worry about making it to your table on time, or having to bring a special outfit, etc...

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Cali Grill. It was wonderful. I thought it was the perfect way to spend our night together. The view from the restaurant was amazing.

We have enjoyed Calif Grill on our vacations - but since you are at BWV - I think you would enjoy Yachtsman Steakhouse - or maybe even Shula's or Flying Fish -

eat around 6 - then walk over to Epcot get a champagne at France and watch illuminations!! :goodvibes

Go to Shula's, have a great dinner, and then go on an Illuminations cruise by yourselves. After the cruise, walk the boardwalk and get a funnel cake.

Since you’re at the Boardwalk and I assume you do not want to travel too far.

I would recommend Todd English's Blue Zoo in the Dolphin.
I'm also from NE and always dine at the Blue Zoo.
If you want a really good steak then Shula's in the Dolphin.

If you’re on the DDP then that is a different story.
The Yatchman is close and has nice steaks (2 TS credits).
Flying Fish has nice seafood (2 TS credits).
Kouzzinna - This is "Iron Chef's" Cat Cora's place (1TS credit). The whole fish makes the meal here for me. It was excellent, almost as good as Blue Zoo. The starters and desserts were just ok. I've heard the Lamb shank is also excellent.

We're going on May with our 3 girls and in-laws, so we'll have a date night also. We're thinking about ESPN or Big River Grille if a Phillies game is on. But if not most likely walking around the countries in EPCOT. That's what we did when we went for our Honeymoon, so it's romantic to us. We try to find a photopass person at each country and have our picture taken. It's like we traveled around the world, only with the same outfit on. I was wondering about Jelly Roll also if we're in the BW area.

We were lucky enough to have 2 date nights last year as my mother came with us!!

#1 - Went to the Polynesian and watched Wishes from the beach on lounge chairs and then had dinner at Kona (yum, Tuna Oscar!).

#2 - Went back to Epcot after getting the kids settled, rode Soarin' together using FPs we got earlier. Then headed to WS and got a Grand Marnier Slushie and a chocolate crepe in France (WOW!), watched Illuminations and then walked over to the Boardwalk and had dinner at Spoodles! Best night ever!

Since Spoodles is now closed I would go to Flying Fish!
