This is the first time our family will travel to WDW with the new DAS system. With the old GAC we were able to use it so my son could ride with whoever he wanted regardless if they were attached to our reservation. One of our daughter's will not be staying with us in our room as she is traveling with her school's dance team and at another Disney resort. Will she have to be present when we receive a return time with the DAS or can we somehow attach her ourselves with just her name or ticket number? We have family that live in the area that come to meet us at the park as well. How do we get the cousins to be able to ride with him since they also aren't attached to our reservation? Do we have to have everyone at Guest relations when we get the DAS initially? Thx

My understanding is that the magicbands or tickets need to be present to be hooked to the DAS, but that the whole family does not need to be physically present. If you have family meet up with you one day, you will need to go to Guest Services to add them. There is also a 6 person limit for people on a DAS card, and it's only case-by-case that it is increased, so you will want to prepare for that, too. We are traveling with cousins and have told them to prepare to not be included in the DAS. We plan on just switching out a magicband here and there if our son really wants one of his cousins to ride a ride with him.

Have fun!

You will need each person, or at least their MagicBand/ticket, at Guest Relations when you first request the DAS in order to have those people "attached" to your son's DAS. If they are arriving later in the trip, you'll just need to stop by Guest Relations at that time.

Only 1 person needs to approach the attraction for a return-time. They'll scan your band or your son's band and then ask who else will be riding. The standard max is 5 others (plus the DAS holder); I'm not sure if the current electronic version allows for extra with permission or not. Depending on the party size, you may need to split up at times.

Enjoy your vacation!

I have had friends attached to my DAS even though we were not staying together all you have to do is go to GR and have them linkt to the DAS,
