DAS Question

We are going in February and I think we are going to get a DAS for our DD8. She bladder issues and sometimes will have to go to the bathroom immediately. I'm worried about getting in long lines (such as SSD and FOP) and being there for over an hour....because I know she will have to go during that time I'm sure.

What I'm wondering, is with the DAS, it says it gives you a return time equal to the current wait time -10 minutes....but do you have to wait near the ride? Or how does that work? Can we wait somewhere and eat something? Or ride another ride, that is a shorter wait, while waiting for our DAS to open?

I'm sorry if this had been addressed already, but I've looked and I haven't come across this question.

Thank you.

You may wait and do anything you like while you wait. You may not get another return time for any thing before you use ( go back and ride the ride) return time for the one you have. The return times are good until the end of the of the day.

Just go to GR and explain her needs as it has to do with waiting in line. If your or she is more comfortable you can write down your concerns and hand it too the CM.

You can do whatever you want with your time, including going on a ride with a shorter wait. I know the feeling of having to go "now" and it is not pleasant and can really affect your day to day life. Most don't understand how horrible it feels. Make sure she goes right before you get into the FP line. It is a good idea to become familiar with where all of the restrooms are. Don't forget that some times the closest restroom is one inside of a restaurant.

While the DAS may help in the queue, also be prepared for issues to occur while on the attraction - you could be stuck on one for a bit if there's a ride malfunction, etc. So have a back-up plan in case she needs to go while actually on the ride, KWIM?

Like what? Pee in a cup? Unless you are suggesting she wear a diaper. At that age, I imagine it is hard to find something that would fit her properly.

They make pullups all the way to adult size. I work with teenagers who wear them. If someone has to go immediately, how would they manage that while on an attraction?

Well there have been times(very few) that I have had to hold it. It was very uncomfortable going into painful. Thankfully, long delays are not the norm and if I am able to go right before getting into the line, then it is usually OK, even with a delay. It is just one of those things that a person has to deal with. Of course, if OP feels that it is best for her daughter to wear a pull up, then she should do so. This is just like any other issue, you take your chances.

My DD deals with similar issues. She has DAS for other needs, and i guess it helps for this issue - but we take a lot of other precautions as well. We make a pit stop every time we pass a restroom, at least to “try.” DD is on a 2-hour schedule anyway per her doctors, and this has us going more frequently. She also uses back-up protection in case she can’t hold it long enough to get to a restroom (in addition to the urgency, in the past she’s had trouble “holding it”). We use pads now rather than a full pull-up but it may depend on how well she can hold and how much is the typical output. We never join a standby queue without a restroom break right before, and often even FP queues. Keep in mind longer rides/attractions and those with a pre-show making it longer because you may not be able to easily exit quickly. And be sure to pack a couple clothing changes and wipes.

Enjoy your vacation!

Yes it definitely does affect our day to day activities. We are going to do everything we can so no accidents happen, but we are prepared if they do. Thank you for reminding me about bathrooms in the restaurants. I mean it's the kind of thing I know, but didn't even dawn on me. So thank you so much.
